question: when it is cold...

I have this too, but when it happens I can't duplicate it. Slow speeds, with the wheel turned all the way. Deffinetly comming from the front driver side, I felt in the brake pedal as well. Most noticeably when comming up a steep ramp in a parking garage with a tight left turn, cars were stopped at the turn.. As I breaked with the wheel turned all the way there were multiple pops in both the wheel and and in the pedal.

so just deal with it? Does it do any harm to the car? or go to the dealership and get it fixed?

I have the same noise... when at full steering lock. Totally expected to get some tire skip as the front geometry is changed at full steering lock, especially when in reverse, in the cold and the tires are like hockey pucks. Don't turn so sharp and see if you still get it.

the thing is, im not even turning the wheel all the way.. Maybe 45-90 degrees and I hear a steering wheel pop.

You may have something going on with your control arms or EPAS, if you are able to duplicate the noise I would simply drive by the dealership and show a service advisor. After you both hear it he will look at you funny, scratch his beard, mumble some things about warranty and how long it will take and then should come up with a plan to get you in to diagnose it.

A shuddering/vibration/popping concern that occurs when cold on cars with the performance pack (summer tires) is the result of the summer compound tires skipping across the asphalt when cold. It's NORMAL.

Per the owner's guide and all tire manufacturers, summer tires should not be used at any temperatures approaching or below 40 degrees F. They simply aren't designed for it.

Most of these posts are NOT tire skip. Most are NOT PP cars, not a noise coming from the diff at all. This is a front suspension issue, some on the drvr side, some on the pass. side, but all in the front and very noticeable. I have had it more lately, but it never gets below 40 here, mostly in the 70s in the winter. So, I can't say it real cold related, just happens more in the 60s than in the 80s. I plan to take it in for an oil change again soon and will take a SM for a ride.
