I was finally able to check off a bucket list item by driving on the other side of the road. The wife and I traveled to the Cayman Islands and we rented a car... it was of course right hand drive.

I was excited for this new adventure; however, we did not have Google Maps on GPS. We were using a tourist map with most streets not labeled and not to scale.
We got lost quickly due to the map and bad instructions from the Hertz rental guy's directions.
The Caribbean rains decided to show up at a pace that the wipers could not keep up with on the high setting.

The fun of the stressed learning curve began.
Three lane round-a-bouts......... Whoo-Hoooo, let's figure this out in real time!
I actually became very comfortable with the other (wrong) side of the road on the second day when it was dry.

On the second day, I turned on the wipers while trying to activate the turn signals about a dozen times.
(The locals probably knew to look out for the foreign idiot... he's got his wipers on during a dry day... tourist alert!)

Question:
On Mustangs with right hand drive, is the turn signal indicator on the left or the right side of the steering wheel in the UK?

Good Times....................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The indicator stalk is on the left and the wipers are on the right which is actually incorrect in a RHD car, traditionally the indicators were on the right so you could change gear with your left hand but sometime in the 1970s we fell inline with Europe who drive on the right, it’s now become entrenched as it’s cheaper for manufacturers to produce one stalk assembly for both left and right hand drive cars.

I haven’t driven a car in years that didn’t have the indicators on the left.

Multi lane roundabouts are great, especially when the roads are quiet offering you lots of room to ‘manoeuvre’ …

Interesting. Here in Oz my Bullitt is RHD and the indicators are on the rhs. But my Audi which is RHD has them on the left.

Fords of course
Yeah in Australia the RHD Mustang has the indicator on the right of the steering wheel (as it should be 😁). In the good old days of local car production, Falcon etc the indicator was also on the right.

looks like we need to import from the land down under. Or wonder if we could get the stalks and just swap them on our UK cars.... mmmmm

There are two things related to driving a RHD car that I found to be somewhat unexpected. First is that you have to look to the left for the rearview mirror. This took a little while to overcome the reflex of looking right!

The second is more sobering and critical - I actually had an accident because if it: The lanes of traffic move in the opposite direction when you pull away from a curb. For example, if you're parked on the left side if the road, cars in the lane nearest to you approach from behind. This is opposite from our U.S. subconscious conditioning. If you're tired and not thinking, this can catch you!

And here at the bottom of the world my indicators/lights are on rhs and wipers on left.

FWIW we drive rhd but having driven lhd on holidays i feel the latter is more natural and the way the Amighty planned it

I drive both RHD and LHD cars each year. You obviously always need to be alert and I also ask my passengers to pay attention too. One thing I will never do is drive a LHD car in a RHD country. That's a no-go for me.
