Q: lowering brake pedal?

As in the title. By lowering it, I mean to make the brake pedal further away from the driver (thus better aligned with the throttle). Not liking the idea of bending it at all, I am thinking maybe there might be a way to add some free play at the top of the brake pedal travel? That is, the brake rests at the stock position, but you have to push it deeper (than stock) before it exerts braking power.

Or, maybe this is not a good idea, as it will compromise the maximal braking power (when brake pedal to the floor)?

Sure, one can increase the height of the gas pedal to better align the brake and gas pedals. And there is a gas pedal mount available for this purpose. But for ergonomic reasons (for me at least), I would prefer lowering the brake.
