Q&A with Mustang program manager

I guess that's what they meant by haven't finalized the badging strategy. This could have been taken early on and they smartly decided to remove it for the reveal. I hope it stays off. I'm not totally against blue oval being on the car but putting one there would really ruin that very clean and good looking rear end.

If they decide to put the Ford badge on the car like that I will remove it before it leaves the lot. That really ruins the clean look of the rear end.

I'm 99.9999837% sure Ford will not badge the car like that. I'd like to see the Ford blue oval on the center caps though.

The blue oval in back or front looks bad.

I'm scared that ford will put blue oval for Euro mustangs, because here a lot of people don't know about Mustang, only fans cars or people have heard the name from movies.

There will be 50-70% of people who do not identify the mustang icon with Ford now, of course the marketing will help.

Good point. I can see this happening. They have an obsession with sticking the logo everywhere and it seems every time the Mustang gets a makeover this idea gets put back on the table after being scrapped. With a global version now and trying to gain new customers and more Ford awareness overseas we could finally see this idea get the green light.

Only the wheel companies. I would think that people waiting to order a 2015 would have realized by now that the old wheels probably wouldn't work even with the same bolt pattern. With the car being wider in the rear and having irs I highly doubt offsets are going to be the same. Then you have the much bigger brakes. I would think aftermarket wheels will have to made specific for the s550.

I’m seeing this in the view point of people whom already own a Mustang.
I think if you have bought a set wheels in the past 4 yrs the front runners will work fine considering most wheels now come in a BB friendly offset. The rear is definitely a different story since it’s apparent a high offset is needed and wouldn't be surprised it it’s in the 50’s for 10” wheel “no bueno” for concave wheels.
The point is, now instead of just ordering a set of rear wheels to match the fronts a whole new set of wheels is needed to match offset and bolt pattern.
I can see the offset changing because of the new geometry, but not sure why it was necessary to change the bolt pattern?

If we were to get that badge (and I don't think we will), removing it will be the first mod.

The blue oval on the back would suck... but I kind of don't blame Ford for wanting to inform other drivers of what brand it is.

If the Blue oval ends up on the back I just hope it's only fastened with 3M and not rivets... de-badge time!

The question that comes to mind is:

If not where the image shows, then where?

Believe me, I don't like the way it looks there either. However I'm somewhat at a loss at to where else it could go.

Yeah I understand that. I was just thinking fronts wouldn't work cuz the breaks. I have several sets of drag wheels in storage.

I'm sure it would be 3M tape but even if it were rivets I'd be tempted to take off the Ford badge and drive with 2 holes back there. …. or find another badge to cover the holes up, or just get a couple of painted stickers to cover up the holes.

I think we are worrying about it too much. I don't see it going back there on the US model.

Q: Will there be a 2014 1/2 50th anniversary edition?
A: The all-new Mustang will be introduced as a 2015 model year in North America.

Note that this doesn't say that there will be no 2014 1/2, just that if there is it won't be the all new mustang.

There never was a 1964.5 Mustang, they were just early run '65 cars that got that nomenclature from anoraks. However the early availability of the 2015 cars with unique features could indeed make them 2014.5 models if we so decide that they are.
