I've had the Pypes muffler deletes on my last 3 mustangs: 08 Bullitt, 11 brembo, and now my 2015 gtpp. I personally like the sound that it offers. I first installed just the Pypes on my 2015 and there wasn't any drone that I noticed. I have since installed a Heartthrob h-pipe and man it is very loud and muscular sounding. There is a drone in any gear at 2000 rpms but it doesnt bother me. I got them installed with 400 miles and now I have 1800 miles. Cold starts are amazing
Same exact setup. I roll down my my street in the morning in 2nd gear at 1,000 RPM lol.

Got the h pipe and Pypes on today...

LOUD. AGGRESSIVE. ANGRY.

HOLY CRAP IS IT LOUD. Even shifting at 2.5-3K it is LOUD. I previously had an 05 GT with muffler deletes and this is significantly louder and has a much more... exotic tone? At least to me. On the way home all I could think of is if I see a cop I have to shift at 2K LOL.

OK, now the thing everyone is wondering about, drone... It was hard to give it a thorough review because it was just a 9 mile ride home all city and lots of traffic. Drone appears to be somewhere around the range of 1,800-2,000 RPM. Accelerating you hear it a lot more than if you are just cruising in this rev range.

I'll have to get a video outside and inside the car.
That gif was definitely my reaction after the first time my car started up with pypes on lol.

I have the Pypes axle backs and a CJPP h-pipe.
Cold start interior: 97 dB
Warm start exterior: 114 dB
Normal driving in city, 1st - 5th gear under 55mph: peak interior 97 dB

Drone is terrible. I have 450 miles on them now and there has been no change in tone or sound from when I put them on.

It definitely turns heads and makes people jump if they're standing too close. Not really made for a DD in my opinion.

Lots of research on how to mitigate drone has led me to the conclusion that I will probably be better off spending the money on a different set of axle-backs. Here is what I found regarding Helmholtz resonators.

It's essentially straight pipe, I'd expect drone. My buddy has them on is 2014 v6 performance pack mustang, it drones bad.
^^^^^^THIS^^^^^^ My son had Pypes on his 13 GT. The drone was horrible. We both have Corsa extremes on our 15 GT and love them. You get what you pay for.

Has anybody that put these on also have a Jpipe to kill the drone? What length did you use?

I know there is a formula but I can't measure to get the frequency of the drone for 2 reasons. 1. I dont have a device to measure the frequency and 2 I dont even have them yet. I would like to have everything ready so I can just take it to a shop after I bolt them up.

I have the Pypes Street Pro Axle back and love them. They have a nice deep sound, no drone, and sound great! Exactly what I was looking for, louder than stock but not too loud.

A little bit of info on homemade j-pipes. I used an app on phone to analyze the frequency, but it's not necessary. The j-bends will knock down a broad range of drone. Most common is 1,800-2,200 so I split the difference for the length.

Jay-rod427 .. Couple questions if you dont mind What app was it that you used?
Where did you have your phone when measuring it?
Is there an online calculator tool that you know about, I'm not so good with the equations that are used to determine the length and diameter needed.

Iphone app called Audio Spectrum Analyzer by black cat systems. It was NOT free, couple bucks, but this particular app lets you zoom in to a very narrow frequency range. Held my phone in my hand above the center console. I have a table at home I found on another forum, but don't have it on my phone... Basically longer j-bend is for lower rpm, shorter for higher rpm drone range. in the 5.0 case 2,000 rpm is the nasty drone spot middle of the road. Diameter of the j-bend to some degree is irrelevant. I wouldn't use .5" pipe, but 2.0" or 2.5" will work nicely.

Be warned as in the other post you will lose some overall volume down low. Those same frequencies that cause drone are also the ones that give the nice low rumble, It's still there just not as prevelant.

hit the highway in a 2014 GT perf pack and the drone is terrible on the highway.
Not meant for DD. 1800-2100 RPM is very bad on the highway in 5th-6th gear in cruising conditions.
car has stock exhaust except the pypes axle backs

love the crackling and poping otherwise, sounds super mean.

I have the stock cats and resonator with my Pypes...and it will drone a tiny little bit, but it's not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. It only happens at a very specific RPM also, like 2,350 and then it goes away. I have had them for about 2 months now and I am really happy with them. They are aggressive, but not in a raspy way. It's a very deep tone.
