I was thinking the same thing. I'm not sure if its a lens or a cutout but Ill take a look tomorrow.

I think its a lens, and a bit of a weird shaped one at that. The other puddle lights I have seen are round but the pony ones are kind of oblong. Would have to be custom made for the mustang I think.

Exactly this, its like a half circle shape almost.
