I'm ordering a new deckled for my GT and want to make sure this thing stays protected, I want to do PPF but it looks impossible with the tight lining of the GT emblem. Any ideas on how to protect this thing? I'm thinking vinyl may be the only way to go. Cut out a slot for the gt on a sheet and lay it over.

You could always remove the GT emblem, apply the PPF on the decklid and reattach the GT emblem. Although, I don't think the decklid would really be exposed to anything to damage it.

Well the only problem is the emblem is held in by pins that were plastic welded on.

Ummm...what happened to your original one? Where it's situated it shouldn't get damaged at all. It's a dirt/dust magnet for sure, but as far as actual damage??? Get yourself a strap that closes the thing from the inside so you never have to touch it and you're set.

Yeah i thought so too. A rock or something got kicked up and mustve landed on the upper portion of it in a real weird spot. Made the plastic peel like someone peeled back a piece of clay.

Ugh, car behind coming up to a stop or something shot one out? I swear the decklid is the poorest piece of shit they made for this car. Just the way it's made with the cap piece hot-glued (I swear the glue is the cheapest Elmer's crap the could find) to the mount that gets attached to the trunk.

Then again, never heard of people having them get damaged by actual driving/road hazards. Clear-film is probably your safest best. Just get it super-clean, then start applying and cut out a circle around the GT portion (doesn't need to be inside the letters). If you do any color vinyl you'll need to remove the GT, wrap, and then glue the GT back on or it will look like shit.
