Project RoadCone Update...Gen 5 CJ Whipple

Well it’s been a bit, but I thought I would give the forum an update. Last November I ran a 9.61@156 with a manual transmission and got asked not to come back. So I started preparing for this year. Cortex Racing in Cincinnati Ohio took on the task of doing a 10pt. legal cage. The process was very involved to get the Ultimate tight fit. We added a parachute and addressed all the safety needs of Evil. I have shared some of the pictures in this thread.

As for any good build, I believed it is time to add power since I added some weight. I contacted @Whipple SC. Dustin and I decided it would make some big power with Whipple’s new Gen 5.... Cobra Jet setup with the bigger intercooler bricks and alternator relocation kit to lose 40-45 inches of blowe belt. I’m super excited as our first goal will be to take the S550 manual transmission record ... on our way to the Ultimate Goal of an 8 second slip.

Steeda has also assisted in addressing suspension needs and Cortex/JRi coilovers will be assuring to get the new power to the ground while hopefully taming the chassis.

So Whipple says that you can use the Gen5 on your car? If so that is great news. I see no reason why it couldn't be retro fitted to be used on the '15-'17 cars too. Good seeing someone with a manual go after the record. I will add that 9's aint no joke either way........record or not. Good luck.

As usual i'm late to the party. Very clean build. What trans clutch combo do you have thats holding that much power? Mt RXTHD in the tr6060 never lasted long with the Whipple onE85, thus my switch to th400.

HMM still on the MT82? Wonder how much power the gforce mt82 will hold. I still have mine, may have to build it and go with you for the 6 speed king lol! Car looks amazing. Im praying I get mine back tomorrow.

I know I have the drop motor mounts and aftermarket hood to clear the bigger CJ setup. I don’t know what all will be sent to make it work. Some of the brackets are different I believe also. Thank you and the 9z was no joke, but we want more. Lol

Sorry missed that, it’s a Tremec Magnum XL. 2.97 gearing. The MT 82 you would have to go to 5th.... and that’s an extra shift. IMO that’s no good for a big power car.

haha remember I have the 3.0 rear gear. Who cars if I need to row to 5th?? Ill just hit the scramble button and max out boost! lol I wish I would have went magnum over 6060. 6060 is/was great but apparently the mag "feels" better more solid. Serious note tho, think about it for daily and roll racing events.
