Lets hear opinions on the production numbers for the proposed GT500. Same or close to the GT350 ? maybe limited production ?

Is it just my imagination or there was already a post like this one yesterday and it just got deleted?

Anyway, based on what people is saying I think it will be something like this (including export units).
2019MY:
~1000 GT500
~200 GT500R

2020MY:
~4000 GT500
~800 GT500R

2021MY:
~4000 GT500
~800 GT500R

And Goodbye S550.

No less limited production then the GT350 judging of of past gt500 production data.

while you are right, at least they changed the GT500 up every 2 years, (engine and cosmetic).
gt350 is 4 years so far and no changes and they say a 19 is coming..

For what it is worth I was just advised that the official total production numbers for the GT350/GT350R for the 2017MY were:

GT350 - 6173
GT350R - 942
Total - 7115

The above numbers include all pre production models as well.

As far as going back to the original production numbers for the GT500 cars keep in mind that back in 2007 and 2008 Ford built ~19,500 GT500's combined and then after saturating the market the first two years they only built ~3,500 cars in 2009.

Of course those production numbers include smaller amounts of convertibles as well.

It's anyone's guess as to what they will do for production come a year from now subject to pricing and overall reviews for their new halo car.

;)

My favorite production number is the 526 R's produced in 2016,

Agreed although production number 37 sounds pretty good as well just a year earlier!!

;)
I like it not because the number is low but because it is 526 and the Voodoo makes 526hp : ) Its corny but a neat little coincidence. Similar to matching the 37 original R's.

It's somewhat strange that even tho the '17's were nearly doubled in production, they made less base R's for '17 than '16. Or maybe that was just white base R. I can't remember for sure....

Maybe '18 will be 1/4 of '17, since it will be the end of that option during the MY. Who knows, maybe no radio/AC delete R's ever again.
I'm curious to see how long ford rides the GT350 train with no significant changes.

Jimmy, I hope that Ford builds at least one more base R model for 2018 as I have had it ordered since last summer.

Bought a base R for both MY16 and MY17. IIRC, they made around 64 base Rs in 16 but only 54 in 17 (per recent nearly complete figures, but not per Harry's data above). There were 12 MY17 white base R from that incomplete data. Both of mine are white w/blue OTT. I had to go classic colors.

You'll get it Harry, and it will be one awesome car!
Tom, thanks for that info. It would be nice to be able to see how many of those base '17 R's had black OTTS or black roof, or even NO OTTS.
I know that if you put all the white base R's for each MY, we are only talking about maybe high 20's. Thats incredible IMO.
I can't believe people didn't want the raw experience... I love it.

Thanks for the attached info as I cannot get a breakdown of 2017 production numbers at this time and only total production numbers.

I had a base 2016 R but sold it at a weak moment to a collector who I understand has now resold the car. That was 16 months ago and still have pretty much all of the paperwork for the car since it was never requested so over the next while I will reach out to everyone to see if they know the whereabouts of the car as would like to give it all to the new owner.

Oxford White is awesome along with the Blue OTT stripes and very classic for sure.

;)

They will build at least 5000+ GT500’s a year for many years.
