Can anyone tell me what the process is for buying something off the classifieds forum? Is it safe? Can it be through PayPal for protection? How does everyone do it to protect both parties. Thanks!

If you are not sure on PayPal, just don't send as a gift.

Look at ratings and time on the forum.

I have made several purchases from members and had good results.

Usually I send as a gift but be prepared to sent an extra %(you'll have to look what it is) if you want paypal protection, most sellers don't want to cover that. mostly trust

You can check the iTrader score but it doesn't seem like too many folks use it. It works the same as eBay seller/buyer score.

I don't buy anything used, but If I did, I would look on how active that forum member is. The more active, the more I trust and vice versa.

I rarely buy, but I have sold many many times on a multitude of forums. When buying I consider what amount of money I could throw out the window on a loss and decide accordingly, when buying. When selling I'm in constant communication with tracking and other pertinent details. I follow the transaction from A-Z exactly as I like to be treated.

I always use PayPal (buying or selling) and never gift the $$ or ask a buyer to gift the $$ to me. I always ship with tracking unless it's something really small/cheap & send the tracking # to the buyer (as I would expect from a seller).

If the buyer wants to pick-up in person, I'll take a deposit on PP then cash (not a check) when they show up for the item if they do not want to prepay on PP.

As stated above, never gift the money. When you do, you lose your ability to dispute a claim in case shit goes south.
