Just wondered if anyone else has this problem ........ I bought the Engine Cap Set last year, for my 2019 Mustang GT. The caps sit over the original and attach with the provided 3M tape. All are still firmly in place except for the Brake Reservoir Cap which is a looser fit, so I used additional 3M tape on it, but it still keeps working loose - i could try and cram in more 3M tape, but its a messy solution, so has anyone any ideas to resolve this? I thought about heat and the affect on the tape, but you mention the others are holding up well.

The only thing I can think of is calling Ford Performance, to discuss warranty and possible replacement. It's a mass-produced item. Maybe that one came off the line not soo good that day.

I wouid do this:
  • Buy a new factory brake reservoir cap and store it.
  • Instead of using any tape to hold on the "show" cap overlay, just JB Weld, Gorilla Glue or Liquid Nail it to the existing factory cap... it will never come loose with any of those mentioned products.

If you ever decide to not use those fancy overlays and sell, then pull out your stored factory cap and replace.

The tape most likely isn't adhering all that well to the brake reservoir cap because there's probably residual brake fluid preventing a secure adhesion (not to mention the raised letters on it). You can try tape again - but this time around remove the brake cap, soak it in Simple Green or even Dawn Dish Soap, wipe with a micro fiber and let thoroughly dry, but as stated above just glue it and be done with the frustrations.

The only other way to make it work would be to sand off the letters on the factory cap, clean, then apply tape so it's an semi-flat surface without raised letters. But doing so you destroy the factory cap anyway... so just glue it on... and keep a new cap as stand by.

:)

I'd try washing both caps with brake clean. Let dry then wash again with 99% isopropyl alcohol. Let dry and try tape again. Maybe you can remove the rubber seal from brake cap first before cleaning to help remove any residual brake fluid.
