Yesterday I got into the car, plugged my iPhone in and started it up. Once Sync3 recognized the phone, the phone took over. Never has done this before. My nav system went down because it said that I wasn't online. All the over systems, (home, music, phone) their displays weren't like anything I had seen before and I was having trouble navigating through them.
Basically all I want to know is how do I keep the phone from hijacking the system and if it does how do I get the system to go back the the Sync3 defaults.

You could turn CarPlay off on the phone or otherwise look around there’s a button on the CarPlay screen to go back to sync that way you can change climate settings and all that.

Learn how to use Carplay, it is your friend:) Also you can turn off launch carplay in the sync settings so it doesn't automatically launch when you connect the phone.

One of the apps on the CarPlay home scren has a Ford icon. Touch that, and it will return to the Sync interface, though without the map. For some strange reason Sync isn't able to use its own map while CarPlay is active, but the rest of it should work fine. And while you're there you can go to Settings, Carplay, and turn it off. Unless you need Apple Maps or Waze, CarPlay is utterly useless (and highly annoying to boot).
