Anyone care to take a guess how much more the s550 will be to an equally equipped s197. I've heard numbers ~10% which is a lot, that would put a fully equipped GT non-vert close to 50k :eyebulge:.

What about the GT350?

Or both of you in the can't read category. As he said fully equipped gt, which is close to 42000, 10% over that is close about 46000. TTL puts that over 50,000

Edit: of course if you have a lower tax sales state it'd keep you under 50,000 but here it would be over 50,000

10% for an equally equipped GT would be suicide IMO,when they have at least 2 more years of status quo prices to deal with from the competition before their platform changes (and higher prices you can only assume). I would guess +$3k at most.

I could believe 10% for the GT350 if some of those rumors about its new powertrain and special materials are true, but they need to be aggressive out the gate with the GT. Pricing it too high will put a big blemish on this release and give Chevy/Dodge a big opening to undercut them in a few years.

On a 32000 car 3k is damn close to 10%. I'd expect somewhere around a 5-7% price increase

Here's an idea... Don't fully equip a car with a Track Pack. Your adding nearly 100lbs for the 401a and Electronics Package. Another weight gain with performance upgrades...

Don't be silly...

This is why a TP isn't available on convertibles... So we can't be complete idiots.

A Base GT with TP will be $39,000....

Nobody said that they would do that, just that you could. I'm a no options purchaser, do things myself

I think you are right on. They can't have a 10% increase across the board, it would be sales suicide. I'm guessing more like your 5 to 7% guess.

A $30,000 GT becomes 31,500 to 32,000
A $35,000 GT becomes 36,750 to 37,500
A $40,000 GT becomes 42,000 to 43,750

Anything more and I think sales would be hurt. When C7 Corvette was about to come out people were thinking the price would really shoot up for a base Corvette with all its added content and quality. The base price barely moved up. I'm hoping Ford follows suit. :)

ThePill you don't condone getting the TrackPack? To me it seems like more bang for your buck than buying all the parts included from the aftermarket, moreover they have been engineered to work well together and don't alter your warranty.

Now I am not saying you can't do better buy buying bigger wider tires, exhaust, engine mods, etc. but in terms of factory mods the TP seems like a good place to start.

Word, well the Electronics are enticing to me, and the TP still has benefits even if you add weight with fluff such as having the big brakes. I'm not as obsessed with keeping 100lbs off the car as I am with having it do everything well: go fast, stop fast, turn fast, nice interior, stereo, electronics features (with the new Track Apps API there should be some cool software coming out) etc.

But to each his own. If we meet on the street you may beat me with your 100lb weight advantage and retain theoretical speed bragging rights ;)

Edit: I am hoping a s550 will be my daily driver, so I do want it to be a good car for road trips and commuting.

Fully blinged out GT PP 45k+
This is what I fear. I looked right now, for a 2014 with TP, electronics and Recaros, the three options I see myself wanting it's about 43k in California.

That's where my ~50k for the s550 number came from.

Its what I'm planning on doing. Aftermarket will offer things to remove that 100 (or less) extra pounds of weight from the elec. package. Only track I will see is the 1/8 and 1/4 mile ones.
