How noisy are the XP10s? If I decide to run them on the street is it going to sound like a tractor stopping? I dont DD my Mustang, just carve up mountain roads and the Tail of the Dragon a bunch.

Any experts here have any feedback on this Carbotech pad vs. factory pads that come with the 6 piston Brembo's? I am curious if the performance is equal to the factory pads but less dusting?

Carbotech™ 1521™

The Carbotech™ 1521™ is our high performance street compound. The 1521™ compound is known for its release and modulation, along with unmatched rotor friendliness. 1521™ is also a very low dusting and low noise compound with an excellent initial bite. This compound's excellent linear torque production provides incredible braking force without ABS intervention. Carbotech™ 1521™ operating range starts out at ambient and goes up to 800°F (426°C+). 1521™ is suitable for ALL street cars, perfect for your tow vehicle or fleet vehicle. Carbotech™ 1521™ is NOT recommended for ANY track use.

I get some noise, sometimes. None that I notice at the track or for a few days afterward, and occasionally using the brakes harder than "necessary" from time to time seems to help not only the matter of noise but also cold bite.

Every car is different, but on my E46 M3 which is track prepared so very light car, around 1300kg they are pretty quiet, maybe just the odd squeak and slower speeds, but can't hear it with windows up and struggle to hear it with windows down.

I run XP10 in front and XP8 in rear, when I fitted them I used loads of Pagid anti-squeal on the back of pads, pistons and slider pins.

I have no issue with cold braking and here in the UK it is very cold, but if your worried and as your only doing road driving maybe try XP8 front and XP6 rear. :)

I have not run them on my Mustang yet, but I did have them on my Audi S4. They are excellent. They do not have a very high initial bite, but otherwise they are a great performing pad for the street. When my fronts are done I will be replacing them with the 1521.

I have a lot of track experience with Carbotech XP10->XP16 (not sure what models are available today). All great pads. Full disclosure they sponsored me as a driver many years ago.

Thanks for the info. I appreciate it. I am certain these are the pads I will go with to replace my factory ones when the time comes.

Carbotech everytime, I run XP10 up front (Alcon 6 pots) and XP8 in the rear (Alcon 4 pots) in my E46 M3 track car.

Great thing is the XP10/XP8 combo works superb on the road, no issues from stone cold at all and I race the M3 a lot, never ever get fade and they have excellent life. I use Motul RBF600 brake fluid. :)
i had this same combo on my '13 mustang with that fluid. it was my first time using a track pad. c-tech told me i could use the 1521's when not on track, which i do. they're good also, but a track pad is night and day different.

i'm a total novice, but i remember several times having to coast into a corner because i slowed down so much in a shorter distance. this was in comparison to ebc brakes which i learned were not a track pad for the mustang! and bp10 pads from wilwood before those.

the xp10's and 8's for me, squealed like a bus after two days of 25mph city driving and grinded.

funny story, when i first put them on after having had the 1521's for a month or two, i was going about 25-30mph and came upon an intersection with a stop-sign hidden behind a tree and hit the brakes hard. my friend slammed into the dash board and i heard "bang" the shook the whole car. it was crazy! i knew the weekend at the track would be good and it was. no fading and the pedal only got slightly softer after 2 sessions. top speed was only about 120-130 and slowest corner was 45mph.

when the new gt with pp gets here i'll use carbotechs again for sure! though i'm curious about the stock pads as vorshlag has a video with a stock '15 gt + pp and said the brakes and pads held up pretty well.

I suspect the XP10/XP8 is quieter in my M3 maybe because I also have the Alcon 2-pieve slotted disc which help prevent any carbon/deposit build up and maybe the fact the car weighs less helps.

I have a sneaky suspicion the stock pads on the PP cars will be Ferodo DS2500's as they work closely with Brembo. The DS2500 is a good all rounder, pedal feel is a little weak (wooden) but they are a good road and track pad. :)
But for me the best pads I have ever used are Carbotech XP10 and Pagid RS29's, I also rate Performance Friction PF08 pads highly as well, incredible pedal feel and insane stopping ability from all of these, though I find Pagid RS29's are absolute squealers. :D

Do you have any experience at all with the AX6 compound in street use?

Street use that does from time to time include fairly hard braking . . . "just because" :D

I do not. I'd also be interested in feedback on the AX6 compound.

They now make a DS2500 in the proper size. For a mixed use pad I think they're hard to beat.

I street on the DS2500 and then track on the DS.11

It's a great combination.

For carbotechs the 1521 would be my reccomendation on the street over the ax6. Just because the AX6 needs alittle bit of heat in them to work well.

At the track for a stock power GT or Ecoboost Xp10 front and XP8 rear will work really nice. You can also so XP10 all around as well.

The 1521s are supposed to be an OEM replacement upgrade, with lower dust. I'd consider it a 1/2 step up from stock, like an HPS (although they dust a lot) or the porter field R4-S.

The AX6 is a full step up from stock, IMO, and is made to get up to temp fast. This is exactly why they are their autocross compound, because there is no real warm up period, and they must work fairly cold.

Post up once you have some miles on the AX6 in the mustang. My information above, is on a different platform.

Thanks, Comp, that's exactly what I was hoping to hear. FWIW, for me it's more about choosing AX6's for my wife's LGT and our '01 Maxima some time in the near future than what the Mustang gets (it got XP12's up front only yesterday, track day coming up on the 14th, and the XP10's that came off had some heat cracks and were under 50%).
