Ok guys, had a change of mind and will be cancelling my order soon - think I should now have a build date as ordered in January. The long wait partly contributed to the change, another being threads relating to warranty works required in most cases which leaves me disheartened.

Few weeks ago I took the wife to see the new Audi Q7 as I was looking for an all-round family car - this has always been in the pipeline even if I had the mustang. Got rave meaningful reviews from the wife and the lot and very glad I once listened as I'm one that just buys without taking the practicality side of things into consideration. Anyway, here is me thinking the car will hit the ÂŁ70k mark but was astounded when it came just under ÂŁ50k after discount with decent options as standard, that's about 10k more than the Stang GT on order and as the Q7 will primarily serve as a nursery shuttle for my 2yr old it was a no brainer.

After much delibration Poignantly, the wife asked if I still want the Stang since we’re going for the Q7 and for once I couldn't give a definitive answer which I’ll come to later.

Afterwards we popped in to Jaguar to compare with the new f-pace, what a great looking car i must say and the missus was more sold on this one (I don’t blame her) but it just didn’t do it for me and the fact I’m still trying to come to terms how the oxygen sensor in our RRS has been chewed 5 times by rodent at a replacement cost of £275 each time baffles me and JLR won’t cover that in their warranty.

Long story short, I've decided on the Q7 3L S-Line to be delivered in September. Decision was purely made as the wife needs a slightly underpowered school bus as she can't handle our high powered RRS, so it was a no brainer to go for the Q7 and this will enable me sell our 4 pot bmw and use the RRS as my daily driver.

So my struggle here is should I hold on to my mustang order bearing in mind I already have a 2015 supercharged rrs with all option on offer?

And

Will I get bored of the mustang knowing I have the Q7 and rrs to play with?

:bolt:
Interesting points - as someone that has a RRS (that the wife mainly drives) and awaiting the Mustang in 2 weeks to replace my companies branded Nissan Juke I can only give my opinion.

Ever since I knew the Mustang was going to be available RHD it was the only car for me, sure, I compared the F Type and the M4 (same lease price) but neither gave me what I wanted - something different, brave even, and it has been an adventure ordering and knowing at that time it was an 11 month wait from March 2015.

I am now at the point of no return - was due to collect the car over 2 weeks ago but it had a clutch problem at PDI and FORd have only just managed to secure a clutch in the UK as they are on back order - so it should be delivered, fitted and collected within 2 weeks and I will post the photos to prove it - slightly off topic apologies...

Anyway, do you need 2 very big cars? I look at the Q7 but it was not for me compared to the RRS (the best 7 seater in the world imo) as we use 7 seats (3 kids plus friends).

Money is not the number 1 issue for you here it seems and that in itself leans more towards the brave decision of going for a Mustang..

Ask yourself one question:

"When you see a Mustang go past you, in the colour you ordered and you are in the RRS or the Q7, how will you feel?"

No right or wrong answers here and a very honest post for you to put up but most answers will be bias - thought my situation and experience so far could be useful...

This is absolutely correct. In fact, I have a child seat in my Mustang and have ferried my 4 year old both to AND from nursery in it today. ;)

She loves it, as do all her friends and the Mustang certainly gets more attention than the large number of Q7's/Touaregs/A6 Avants etc which are the usual staple of the nursery car park...:D
I will be doing the school run with the 3 kids in the Mustang - cool dad alert :headbang::eyebulge:

Apparently if it were a RR they might have.
Nah... the RR would have broken down or had a complete electrical failure before you managed to get it off the drive!

Awaiting a GB Mustang 5.0L V8 Auto - Drives RRS
Only few comments above really hit the nail on the head- build quality, tech, ride comfort etc and once you test drive one your biased opinion will change. What some don't understand is it'll be a safe family run around especially for the wife my 2yr old. Will mustang fit those categories, I strongly doubt it.

Never a fan of the new Q7 when I first saw one but when I was given a 24hr test drive I was completely sold - the technology, virtual cockpit, ride comfort and interior quality is amazing, and that made me reconsider my position with the mustang.

Yes the Stang has a lovely engine/sound/looks but it can't be compared to our supercharged overfinch. I for one isn't a fan of overly noisy cars, hence if I decide to stick to the mustang order the exhaust will remain stock.

For your reference, no one claims to seek status of a footballer or derive joy/attention of any sort. I am an OLD 33yr old at heart but could easily pass as a teenager on my appearance and i constantly get asked for ID in shops and bars.

Do I buy cars to seek attention? no way! Do the cars I go for get attention? Seems so!

Yes Audi might not be to everyone's taste but so is the Ford. Ask me a year ago if I'd ever consider a ford, my answer would be categorically NO, but I like the mustang and you only live ones.

We're going to be back and forth we this subject until you say what YOU WANT car wise, thing is I think you've just answered that right at the end.

It's your money mate, your car and your family we can't decided for you.

I repeat, a Mustang is not the car for you, ESPECIALLY as you seem to think it will collapse like a cereal packet in the event of a crash compared to a chelsea tractor.

There is literally nothing anyone can say to counter your points about the Q7 and RR and if you really wanted a Mustang you'd know that already. There are no arguments. Ford's customer service sucks; the build quality is not great on a ÂŁ35K car; it clearly won't be as safe as a chelsea tractor. A true Mustang fan will look past all those things and deal with them; you, clearly, do not wish to do that.

TBH I'm surprised you haven't complained about the Mustang's poor off-roading ability since it's about as relevant as the other things you don't like about it.

Look at any press review where it's compared with another car; there is always a HUGE difference somewhere along the line between the two, be it price, bodystyle, engine configuration/size etc. The reason is there is almost always another car that does something better than the Mustang, the only car that does ALL of them is...the car you don't want.

If you just like technology so much you're probably best to wait for driverless cars. Can understand buying a 4x4 for safety and off road but not sure why it's being compared to a Mustang? They're are completely different cars.
Agree though with the overly noisy cars, hope the Mustang is not going to be turned into a reincarnation of the Nova Chav with ridiculously loud exhausts!

mmm if i didn't need the boot space i would have tesla in a heart beat - nice cars and i like the company as well. There were some good lease deals on them a few months ago.

Another point for the OP. The great thing about the Q7 is it makes the mustang feel tiny.

Aint tesla's got a front AND back boot? (One in the bonnet the other in the actual boot?) Not sure what the cubic capacity is of both of these, as haven't actually looked into the practicalities of one (Mind you I don't need a big boot anyway!).

You have a point though, Q7 will make the Mustang feel like a Citroen C1 to most of us

Blimey, the only question that springs to mind now is what the hell did you order one in the first place?
