This is the cavity where the ACM resides. Note the 3 cables. They were all fairly easy to disconnect, which is good, since they were hard to get to. The ACM doesn't move too much until these are disconnected. The cable on the right is connected to the AM/FM antenna. I have no idea what the other 2 do.
Welp, I cracked the 8 inch screen. I am going to weep shamelessly for a bit. I have ordered a replacement screen, and will continue this misadventure when it arrives. As a lame bonus, I will record for posterity how to remove a screen from the Sync module (APIM) and attach another screen. It will probably take a week or so for the screen to arrive.
I am going to go throw up for a while, perhaps until I am done hating myself.
While you have the dash apart and time awaiting new screen you might as well get a digital dash conversion kit. Highly recommended as a second update and not much more to take apart to upgrade... Also, what's a little more Forscan programming...
