So my car has 3.55 rear gearing. I'm contemplating going to a 3.73 gearset to give it some more pep. The car is a 5.0 6spd and not a daily driver, just something fun for the weekends.

The rear tire is a 305/35r19 so slightly taller than the original 255/40r19 that came stock with it.

Would there be a noticeable difference in acceleration and responsiveness by going with the 3.73s?

I don't do much highway driving with the car and I don't really care to much about fuel economy since it maybe gets driven once a week and is just for having fun.

This is the car.

Either go to 4.09's or stay with the 3.55's. You would only notice the difference of 3.73's on a stopwatch, and it's a big expense for very little gain. If your gonna spend the coin, make it worth the money and go to 4.09's. If you can find a wrecked PP1 with a manual, yank the whole center chunk out of it, it will have 3.73's and a torsen diff. And since you have to pull the center chunk out to change gears anyway, why not just put in another center chunk out of a wreck and it will be a lot cheaper than having new gears put in your rear unit.

There is a recent thread on even lower gear ratios (4:56/4:88). If you really want some low end grunt. They come with issues though, makes some good reading. Mine has 3.73's and I'm wanting a little more, contemplating the 4:56's.
