Would doing a polish before a coat of wax add anything to make the paint "pop"? Car has no swirls that I can see, but would love to have the metallic in the paint pop some more than with just wax

thanks!

The answer is yes. Put your car under a detailers light and you will be shocked at the number of imperfections your paint has. There are a number of steps that need to be taken before waxing/coating but polishing is one of the most important.

What do you, mean a polish before a wax ? Keeping the finish in good shape is like asking what's the best oil.

What I read, generally speaking people stick with what they are use to using. As an example I offer my preference .

I purchased a truck and the dealer shop manuals. I found in the back suggested product to keep the finish in shape. 3M is the named. car wash & past wax.

Showing you a picture, the truck 1999, Last couple of years maybe 3, it did not get waxed, and washed maybe once a month. It was done Saturday, wax hand applied, electric buffer to remove the wax.

Folks rant and rave about the wet look of the various coating. The latest must have ceramic . Come to find out it only last for a year, big surprise to me, reading all the yapping about it.
Never mind the cost for application, and not something an amateur should attempt, I think.

Does my truck look wet ?

You asked about metal flake popping, My wife's Cadillac CTS is black with silver flakes. The 3M wax makes that silver really sparkle & stand out

Have a new Mustang, I will be using the 3M wash & wax to keep the finish in shape. Then truck shows why, never painted to be very clear.

However I did learn about a really good product from the guys here. 303 Aerospace Protectant, used on the plastic trim. See truck works very well, read the directions.

So some insight for ya to chew on.
