after more driving i think my explanation of the way the car feels is wrong. it feels like portions of the rev range hit a small plateau and then once past that it pulls super strong again. dont know if anyone else experienced that but thats kind of what it feels like when on the throttle hard.

i did more researching into the noise i was describing and found out its the passenger side fan bearing that squeaks when shutting down. apparently a known ford problem and not much to do about it but at least i know now that nothing bad is going to happen just noisy on shut down.
