Thanks to a good dealership in Dallas, and I'm getting it Saturday afternoon.

My dealer here in Houston is a good one, but my sales guy really fell on his sword yesterday. He's young and inexperienced, but essentially treated me like an idiot when I said I found a car in another city. I tried to give him a shot to do it first, but he essentially told me that I wasn't a good customer and that it would be a "real hassle". Wow… :eyebulge:

Anyway, I'm pretty pumped.

I'm putting together my delivery checklist.
The car has 70+ miles on it because it's been on a lot for a few weeks. That kinda bugs me, but whatever, no biggie.

So, looking for input from those of you who have done this. What would you recommend as things to check?
It's a GT Premium, manual transmission, 401A, PP, Nav, Recaro Leather

I have on my list:

1) Cosmetics of the car
a) Body Panel Alignment … I've read about this, but don't know what are the most common issues
b) Panel indentions or dents, etc
c) Paint issues … I've seen some new cars with bubbling, etc.
2) Drive it…
a) Alignment check. I can't tell you how many new cars I've had with bad alignment due to strapping the tires down poorly in shipping, etc.
b) transmission sounds. I know it clunks going into 1st gear, but I mean that rattling some of mentioned that may be a recall issue
c) interior rattles
3) Make sure there's a manual in the glove box secret compartment :)
4) Door and trunk latching correctly
5) ??? <--- what do you say?

You know, when I picked mine up I spent time checking over the fitment on every body panel after things I had seen on here. Then I went all over the interior and couldn't find a flaw. Small issues probably wouldn't have stopped me from buying it, but I was excited going over the whole car.

In the end I drove home and realized a week later that they never gave me the all weather floor mats I purchased. :headbonk:

Make sure if you get anything "dealer installed" that you actually get it. :)

Congrats though, make sure to post some pics! What color, by the way?

Just go get it. The things you have listed are OK to look for but they give you a WARRANTEE. Go get it and enjoy it. I took mine back in to fix a rub between my trunk lid and quarter panel but it was no big deal at all. It was less than a day with a loaner and got my car back completely fixed. Go get it! Enjoy it! If something isn't quite right have them Fix it! BTW I had mine dealer traded so I got it from a Detroit dealer with ~ 170 miles on it. Who drove it here and how. I don't care. If things seem screwed up the next 3 years and 36000 or so I will just bring it back.

Make sure that you don't have foam in the brake cooling duct in the front bumper cover! BTW, Congrats and enjoy.

This sounds weird but check your turn signal lens on side view mirror. I received my car with a broken drivers side turn signal lens on the side view mirror and I didn't realize it until the next day while showing some friends. It looked as if it were damaged at the factory as there were no marks to suggest anyone hit it on something. Fortunately for me the dealership has ordered the part and its on the way.

Most important is to make sure the fun button is installed and working properly. If so, you're set man. Post a few pics of the grin on your face after agressively going thru the gears.

Yeah pretty much, I think I have a goofy smile on my face the entire time I drive my car. I probably look like a lunatic.

We have spec twins. I have the exact same car (GT 401A, PP, 6MT, nav, and premier trim w/ Recaros). You'll have fun with it. :)

Heck yeah! I'm a car nut. My wife actually gave this to me as my Christmas present!!
She and my 11 year old will be with me for the drive up to Dallas and more importantly, the drive home! :D Many pics will be taken.

I don't need to be driving to fit that description, but it will likely be exaggerated while driving!

Cool! I can't wait. My wife picked this car out because when we were dating I had an '89 Mustang GT (black/red) and I made the comment to her that these new Mustangs remind me of all the good stuff I remember of that car.
She insisted that it HAS to be black/black redline and Recaros with PP. It's retro and sentimental, but she knows I love road racing and this is the first truly road racing worthy Mustang now with IRS! :first:

Looking forward to the pics for this one :headbang:
I have a feeling by next year there will be a ton of blacked out 2015 mustangs riding around because of the PP wheels. I actually passed one this morning on my way to work

Black stangs have a special place in my heart. Can't get enough of them. And the S550 looks MUCH better in black than I was expecting, IMO.

The best way to check it over is to wash and wax her. Do a quick walk around, test drive it if you think its necessary. But then take her home and really do a once over. That's when you'll really know. Do this soon enough and the dealer won't question any concerns you bring up.
