I was starting to get on the fence about bothering with E85 since I might have found the limit to usable grip this car is capable of in full street trim. If the IRS bushings and parts dont give my car a lot more grip, then I would have to say I have already reached the end, and forget chasing any more power. I was really hoping this car would have been able to do better than my Nissan... But if I do gain a ton of traction and the car can make use of some more power, than I will go ahead with E85 and push for a little more.

I agree I would much rather stay with a Whipple tune if possible - but there always has to be a limit where you stop holding your breath and just move on... who knows how much longer I could be waiting meanwhile running around with a car that goes leaner than 13:1 A/F.

Wooo! Finally got the 3rd bushing out. That one took me about 4 hours. One more to go! Then I can start on the differential bushings ;/

edit: make that all 4 cradle bushings... the rear ones werent a big deal, but the front two were like fused to the cradle and wouldnt come out until there was almost nothing left

Well the bushings are a pain no doubt. I ended up cutting both lips, top and bottom, with a body saw and wedged a cold chisel in there. From there I took an 8lb hand sledge and knocked them out. There was a lot of force involved but they came out with about 10 swings of that sledge. No damage at all to the cradle.

Ya the rears were like that for me... the fronts were an entirely different story. They wouldnt budge until 30-40% of the contact surface area between sleeve and cradle was gone. I am not looking forward to starting on the differential bushings tomorrow.

Nice to see you pushing ahead on the build Charles  I would concur that the traction available on the street (for a true street car not a track car) does dictate what is reasonable in regards to power expansion. It is obviously nice to say that the vehicle has the numbers, but if the numbers can't be used it almost becomes pointless.

I've been on the fence about going to LT headers. With your relatively minimal gains and the tuning issues you mention I will be staying with the stock headers. I definitely want to stay with drivability and dependability. I will have acquired all my needed parts and when my schedule permits will be starting the build. I appreciate you and the other members that have shared their experiences with the rest of us! Keep up the good work :headbang:

more than easily, I cant go more than half throttle until around 80mph with the NT05R on the street. They spin so much they are actually toast already, I need new tires now.

Worst $700 i ever spent on a pair of tires, they lasted me all of like 2000 miles and didnt even hook up.

annnnd the bad news, no track for me this weekend.

Ford Racing ring gear came with the wrong bolt pattern spacing machined in. So, now I have to send it all back and wait until they can get me the right parts. Sure is fun making a huge mess tearing apart your differential all for nothing.

Ah yes it turns out the ring and pinion I have here is for a 2014 Mustang, not the 2015. I checked ford racings website and they do not have a 3.31 for the 2015 listed, so I guess I will send this back and get the 3.55 ring and pinion.

They most certainly have 3.31 because that's what I had installed 4 months ago. They are available. Honestly I don't think going from 3.73 to 3.55 is even going to be noticeable.

Ford Racing doesnt list any, take a look on their website... might be a regular ford dealer part. Whatever it is, they are no where to be found online.... so I have no choice but to go 3.55. No way I am going back to stock after pulling this pumpkin all apart.

Ive used several sets of R888 over the years and they are same old story as the NT05R was, hooks up for a week, then doesnt hook up at all unless you do a huge standing burnout.

I am done with R-compound tires for the street, honestly they all suck. Ive tried every single one of them now. They only perform at the track when you can put a lot of heat in them, making them entirely pointless for the street because nobody gets their tires that hot on the street. I will get dedicated slicks for the strip, and normal tires for the street.
