I've found the Track setting of the shift indicator very useful. I just leave it on all the time since it doesn't start to light up unless you're winding it out. I agree it'd be better if there were different colors in the strip, but you're looking more for the flash than figuring out how long the strip is. Works great on the road and on track.

Omg I love this thing. I'd forgotten all about it until I finally started mine up for the first time and then completely went gaga for it.

Between this and digital speedo I don't need any other gauges.

Although let's be honest it's useless because you never really have to shift in this car.

Also have mine set to mode where it comes in from each end, meets in the middle, then flashes. I have the set point at 8000 RPM, and try not to look at the lights but rather just be ready for the flash. When it starts to flash I know I need to shift ASAP, so basically as soon as I notice a flash, I'm shifting.

The only issue I run into is that in cooler mornings the oil doesn't heat up enough to always allow the full 8250 RPM. I've had times where my oil temp is maybe 170 or so, and the car will hit the fuel cutoff at 7900, before the shift light has started to flash. That's always a bit annoying.

Other than that though, it is a great feature. The main trick is to not sit and stare at it.

OK, I stand corrected! Much better in "Track" mode with lights creeping in toward center. Now I get it! Thanks for the info, allowing me to enjoy even more of this special car!!!!

I seem to recall you can set the brightness for both day and nighttime.

track mode setting (bleeps from corners towards center) works best for me. I have it set to 7000rpm. At that speed all eyes should be on the road. Maybe I should set it higher!

Yes you an and I have mine set pretty high on track days. The lowers settings are rather difficult to see in day light and especially in direct sunlight.

I am using the beep on the shift indicator during break-in to remind me not to overdo it. I assume I won't be able to hear the beep anymore after I hit 1,000 miles. :headbang:

I have the beep turned on in my settings but I haven't heard it yet. Is it loud? I'm kind of thinking it's not even working. The lights flash nice and bright though.

It's plenty loud enough for me to hear at relatively low RPMs, but it only beeps if you hit the RPM level you've set. I think engine noise at higher RPMs will make it inaudible.
