Peoples Thoughts please

My car has gone back in today as im still experiencing issues with the heaters. After reading threads about the poor under seal done at factory, I asked them to take a video showing me the underside of the vehicle. Here is the video- https://video.citnow.com/vtdKhgV_8ZU
What are peoples thoughts ? I've just spoke to the engineer as well and he seems to think they don't come in with under seal on :shrug: ? They are looking into it for me and im awaiting a response. Any input would be helpful

When at Zeebrugge they have a thin black undercoat sprayed over everything.As an underseal i would say its pretty crap but yours looks like its never been done.

They done a good job of spraying my exhaust system..(which is now off the car..lol)
and my axle. !

Mine has partial black undercoat & a clear wax in the box sections which you can see coming out of holes at the front of the car but not at the rear. I queried it with the dealer & they said all was fine.

Also, your underseal is the same as every uk cars. Non existant. it's shite.

For ref, there's a huge 150+ page thread on underseal. I was lucky (more like annoying) enough to get ford to do mine for me.

In short here's the underseal situation:

1) cars were sent to ZG to get underseal
2) cars are driven over a ramp and undersealed down the middle
3) cars not to UK (via ZG) ie those that went to Bremerhaven and ended up in eu have full underseal
4) andy Barratt claimed underseal was a thing that should be on these cars (later retracted that statement)
5) ford will rarely warranty underseal as underseal, they'll do it as misc
6) my car went to 3 separate garages (2 ford, one independent) for review, by myself, on the underseal, and the corrosion protection. Every garage said it needed it
7) legal notice to my dealer and then was good to go lol

So if 10 years warranty, not really something to worry about. Conversely, doing an underseal not approved by Ford may invalidate the warranty

Yeah good luck getting them to fix corrosion 10 years down the line.

mine was re undersealed by ford approved bodyshop, put on too thick . failed to dry in 4 weeks , stripped by modurstang and redone with nupol raptor

I had numerous issues trying to get warranty work done on my car, some down to the dealer some down to Ford. In the end I wrote a stinking letter to Ford Warranty, Ford Customer Service Centre and copied in Andy Barratt. Suddenly Ford Warranty and the dealer couldn't do enough for me and rectified everything within a week - but what a palaver it was to get the level of service you should get in the first place without having to do all the screaming and shouting.

So essentially the ball is in your court - I'm guessing Ford Warranty won't approve your underseal claim so you can either go through all the hassle of the screaming and shouting or just leave it. There also seems to be (or at least was when I had my car) a massive variation in how helpful dealers are. I tried a couple, including my closest which was Evans Halshaw in Wolverhampton, and they were completely useless (Evans Halshaw in particular). However (not sure where you are in Staffordshire so this might be useless information), I eventually found Furrows in Telford and they were absolutely brilliant. That is where I eventually had all my warranty issues sorted and they did a great job every time I went there, really professional - everything booked in properly, all parts available, courtesy car ready. So if you're nearby it might be worth going to see them if you have problems elsewhere.

Sadly, is spot on. I started going down this road - only within the dealership, only to be told that Ford warranty "can't" approve a carpet replacement that I wanted. I made a judgement call & left it, just so I could have some level of a fix for my issue. I could have escalated my complaint to the group (Think Ford) or even to Ford CRC & see what came of it but after 5 weeks of hassle, I didn't have the energy.

I still intend to follow up with Ford directly & spell out clearly why my experience was shit, maybe I'll get something out of it, maybe not, but they need to know these things otherwise they'll never improve!

I'm not a fan of underseal. It's arguable if it actually achieves anything. Spraying all that crap under the car makes a bloody mess and looks horrible. In the 1970's/80's I used to do bodywork and spraying. It seemed to me that undersealed cars went just as rusty as those that weren't, possibly more so. Cars go rusty from the inside out, not the other way around. As often as not I found the underseal was holding the rust up. So no, not for me.

I believe the best way to protect your car is to seal from the inside using Waxoil or something similar. I used to use old engine oil and a garden spray inside door panels and chassis sections etc. It works well. You've just got to park your car somewhere you can let it drip. Cars are built better nowadays anyway.
