A lot of people are careless unfortunately and parking in a lot is an issue for me. I don't know whether I am fortunate or not, but having another vehicle I often choose to drive it instead of my mustang anytime I go somewhere I know I will leave my car unattended for a bit (ie mall or movies). This also pisses me off as I'm making the choice not to drive the car I want to just to play it safe.

I try to find the balance with driving and enjoying the car...but also understanding that many people could care less about their car. Its simply an appliance to them. Something to get from point A to B and nothing more.

I try to park far out without picking the very last spot to draw unnecessary attension.

I get the frustration.
Years ago I had a nice '96 GT...I remember finding a huge 4" dent (creased the metal) from my local Home Depot parking lot.

Living amongst people inevitably leads to rubbing elbows. The best way to avoid many issues is to run your errands early or late in the day. In terms of reacting, I understand being rude to others when they are thoughtless, but I don't understand preemptive rudeness just because others don't follow a certain code. Cars will be parked next to you on occasion. And when this common occurrence happens it doesn't warrant rude behavior. Now, if they are so close that you can't open your door enough to get in - different story. And if you want to let them know you are pissed, leave a note. Unless you are direct with your thoughts, they may never know they pissed you off. Most people are clueless. Damaging their car or dumping soda on the ground won't necessarily register with them that it was a direct result of their actions. If you really want to annoy someone, or try to get them to change their future behaviors, be direct.

Ugh! I got to the gym and parked about 3/4 of the way out in the parking lot with PLENTY of other spaces around.
When I came back out, I notice this GIANT jacked up pickup truck parked not only behind me, but he literally backed up so far his bumper was over top of my trunk so that I couldn't open it! There was no damage, but I was really upset because he obviously was just doing it do bother me.

That guy was obviously trying to make a point, that is: giant jacked up truck = compensation tool for another kind of tool.

back in the late 70's I had a '66 Mustang that was in very nice condition. Not cherry but very nice all around. One day I went to Micky D's for lunch and squeezed my car between 2 cars. Yes, I was 19 years old and not very versed in the ways the world. When I came back to my car the rear quarter panel was smashed in by a car getting out of his/ her space. I felt so bad I don't know why I didn't cry tears.:brokenheart: From that day on I purposely go out of my way to park protected (near island) or park alone unless I have a rental car. Very painfull lesson lerned.

Road dog......you don't need any tools..Just take the valve cap off and find a tiny little pebble on the ground.Stick it in the stem and tighten the cap back down..

DONE!
Oooh! Nice one, I had not thought of that...

I always try to park a bit out of the way, but if I see one, I'll park near another Mustang. The first picture is my 2015 Magnetic V6 when I got to the USS Alabama museum in Mobile. I took the pic to send to my girlfriend and told her I parked in the "Mustang Section".

I stayed for a couple hours, and when I came out I saw the 2nd pic - it really was the Mustang section!

I always park the side to a curb or a trolley/kart return. Reducing the risk of damage by 50% is YUGE
I stay far away from cart returns. I've seen people just shove carts from a distance in the general direction of the cart corral. They could easily miss and hit the car parked next to it instead.

+1 Most are too lazy to even do that. They will unload their shopping cart and park it front or behind the car next to them.

I've seen shopping carts get blown across a parking lot on a windy day.

I tend to park as far back as possible, but it never fails that someone with their "illest" badge stanced Auto Zone edition 4 banger Honda rolls up and parks too close, even at times when there's little to no other cars in the lot. Guess they're trying to be cool by association.
