I dont have any experiencing painting auto parts and I know there is usually a process.

Sanding > prime > paint > clear

I want to install body color quick latches. I bought the machined aluminum ones because I figured those would be the better option to paint over the black anodized.

I have spray cans of primer, paint and clear coat from PaintScratch. Do I have to use primer on the quick latches before I use the paint? and if so, do I have to sand? Sorry for the dumb question but I just want to do it the correct way if I'm going through this effort. Im seen YouTube videos for interior parts and touch ups.

Thanks!

I have painted some plastic parts and Done spray touchup on my truck...prep is everything... you might need to sand if the item is clear coated...wiping down with acetone to clean it is important...I would do primer before color....wer sanding works on flat surfaces but on a small quick latch probably not....
