Real Ruby Red is a tri coat. Real Ruby Red is about $400 a quart plus the mid coat at about $100 a quart plus you need clear coat. There is a huge difference between a professionally done set of coil covers and the covers you have here. If your happy with them great but please dont compare them to a professionally done set

Did you read my posts, Muztangman93? I never tried to compare them to a professionally done set. I stated in the posts that the Duplicolor metalcast was not an exact match, but that it was close, and that I thought it turned out pretty well for a DIY.

If having professionally done coil covers meant that much to me, as they obviously do to you, I would have purchased them or paid to have them done. They don't. My hood stays closed most of the time. This was just a fun little DIY project.

Just stating like I did if you like em great. You compared them to buying professionally done covers by saying you save $200 on prepainted ones. I own a custom paint and hydrographics business. Theres a reason true professional covers cost $200 or more. We dont use syringes for lettering we dont use paint from autozone or walmart and we sand all the texture out of the piece and give it an mirror shine.

Well, I don't think a fair read of my posts leads to a conclusion that I compared them to professionally painted coil covers.

But let's just shake hands across the internet as a couple of Mustang lovers. If you ever make it down to Texas, look me up and I'll buy you a beer or three.

And hey, how do you guys paint the letters and lines? I thought about trying to mask all of that off and spraying them, but the masking seemed almost impossible to do.

Wow. That takes a lot of patience.

I can't imagine 20 to 30 below. It's been about 28 to 30 degrees here the last couple of mornings with some light rain which has made for some icy road conditions. As result, the schools and a lot of businesses have had delayed openings. We're just not used to ice on the roads.

Ah well, spring will be here soon.

^^And there it is^^

Post some picks of the engine bay when you get it back into the car.
Here ya go, Vile. I snapped a couple of pics at lunch. For the sides, I used VHT's silver engine enamel, which is a bit lighter than the original silver/grey color. And the red of course is the Duplicolor metal cast over the VHT silver.

Thanks, Ryan. Not too bad for a DIY.
Not at all, I think it looks great.
I am going to do the same thing, but I am going to buy the Deep Impact Blue in a spray can to get it as close as possible to the same color.

Looks good, Twenty15. The color looks spot on. Were you able to find an exact match for DIB?

Professional or not, that looks awesome. Nice job! I'm all about DIY projects like this, and it looks like you really paid attention to detail given the materials you had to work with.
