I have searched (I know there are a couple of threads on this) but I am having trouble finding some of the information I am looking for. I have made up my mind that I will be changing the brakes on my HEP Shelby 350. I have the base 350, so of course the brakes are not painted. To be honest... that drives me nuts, because the majority of high performance cars have painted brakes. I can not even think of a performance car that does not have painted brakes? That being said, because of the Heritage Pkg (Old school Wimbledon White) I am ok with not having bright red brakes. The last HEP Shelby to roll of the line belongs to Bill Ford and they painted his brakes Guardsmen Blue to match the stripes. This is the exact color I want my brakes to tie into the guardsmen blue stripes!

So without further ado ....

1. Anyone know a shop in VA that they would trust to paint the brakes?

2. How much should I expect to pay for a high quality paint job?

4. Can members post pics of their painted brakes.... has anyone done blue brakes with a white w/blue stripe car?

5. Can anyone think of a high performance car that does not come with the option of painted brakes?

Appreciate all of your responses (and nope .. I can not do the job myself.. health and lack of talent issues lol) and I will update thread with pics, prices and thoughts as I make this much needed mod!

heres a targeted regional subforum if you'd like to post there as well: https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/forums/mid-atlantic-usa.84/

Also, the lack of splitter is bothering me lol
If you dont like that .. how about this... lol. I really want to get my mods and paint corrected, ppf'ed and ceramic coatings done before I install splitter and gurney flap. On a side note, purchased some beautiful vinyl overlays from Bemaro and will order a second set of Brembos to powder coat/paint once I find a shop. I also posted in the sub forum as you suggested. 🤙

The brakes are painted. They are just black and grey like the PP2 calipers.

Best option is to have them torn down, powder coated and rebuilt.

I agree, I am buying a second set to have sent off and powder coated. I was not successful finding a shop near by that could do the work. I'll be so happy when we move to Vegas this summer. I've met a lot of great guys and shops that do mods out West (NV/CA). I also have a cool vinyl overlay to try out on my existing Brembos.

Yup, I was going to say Auto Fanatic but if you want them now and don't want to take them off the car, here are two that are local to NOVA

http://www.eurobeatwheels.com

http://calipersrus.com
Appreciate the response, I'll check both of these out. I should have clarified that NOVA has a pretty amazing car culture. Down in southeast VA... there is a little in VA Beach, but nothing like NOVA or the triangle. I my only fear is driving the car up there ... the beltway 😳

ahh I see. I grew up in Newport News so I know what you mean.

I think it'll just come down to how much you want to spend. You can buy a takeoff set and get it painted or powder coated without your car being down and traveling. Then just swap the calipers yourself or at a shop.

I'm sure there is something in the area. If I find something, I'll swing it your way

Indeed, I am ordering a second set to have painted. I am going with Guardsmen Blue to match the stripes, and having the ones on the car done as well is not out of the question. For the time being, I am going to try out the vinyl overlay. If the ones I have sent off dont completely match, I may take off the vinyl and have a local shop try to match my stripes.

ahh well in that case you can honestly choose anywhere in the country to have them done (I would think). Any quality shop would allow you to ship the calipers and the vinyl with it to get the work done and ship them back.

see if you can get a vinyl sample instead to avoid having to mess with the one on your car

I probably should have asked for a sample.... that being said the vinyl company is Bemaro, and the owner has been amazing to work with. If you get a chance check out their site, they have an amazing selection for Mustangs. My shipment should be here soon and I'll post some pics! I might run the full painted and keep the vinyl as back up. Or I might throw a set up on the classifieds (they would have less than 100 miles on them).

I posted pics of vinyl overlays and steering wheel tape in the heritage 350 section. I just thought I post update here. I probably should have posted this there in the first place, as there may be little intrest in Guardsmen Blue mods outside of Heritage or 50th Anniversary cars. Once I get brakes done, I'll post up there as well. Appreciate the responses that I did receive, Thank You.
