Painted Grille

I am planning on pulling the front fascia and both grilles to cut out the honeycomb and do my own mesh. I am considering sanding (smooth) and painting both the upper and lower grilles to match the car (magnetic) before adding black mesh. The paint would cover everything that's left after cutting the honeycomb out. Thoughts?

I don't recall seeing any painted grills on the S550 yet. I'm interested to see how it turns out. I like the idea of the two-tone color. I don't envy you for the sanding job, though.

Sanding job...piece of cake. I'm doing a total restoration (end to end) on a '66 Corvette big block coupe right now and that grille will be like a autumn trip on my porch swing.

I'm thinking it might look pretty good, but I'm not sure. The vertical bars or fangs in the grilles will stand out and I assume painted to match might make the upper grille opening look a bit shorter in height which could possibly look better as I think the opening is a bit large at certain angles, especially straight on from a slight distance.

theres a white car here that did it, on white at least it came out horrible
