My special order '78 Trans Am WS6 with flawless factory paint needed an engine rebuild. a Dealer back in '79 replaced the cam under warranty and left a bunch of metal behind. Took another 40 years and 5k miles to chew up the crank. The shop that pulled and reinstalled the engine did a number on the paint around where they worked. I won't mention how they reinstalled the 4spd linkage so gears were in the wrong spot in the gate. Woops, I mentioned it.
Good news is the '78 is pre-clearcoat with mile deep white paint and just needs the swirls buffed out. It basically looks like a worse than average car dealer lot-boy wash job. Might as well get it coated at the same time.
I also recently had a Merc change lanes into another of my cars and the body shop left a bunch of holograms on a quarter panel. I gave them a chance to buff them out but only got a few; but nice they hire the blind. Anyway, to avoid me going back to the Merc's insurance to have the holograms buffed out by someone else, the body shop told me to go where I want, and they would pay the bill.
I hope someone can recommend someone they have used themselves. I know a lot of people DIY.
