I have a 2015 GT 50th edition, with paddle shifters. I used to have a 2005 Pontiac GTO manual which was a lot of fun. I am sure the Mustang manual shift is fun as well but I have a question about the paddle shifting.
I am not sure if it is me or the programming for paddle shifting. I like that fact that it blips the throttle when I down shift, although not fast enough for my taste but I know the torque converter doesn't help with rotating weight and mass.
Anyway, When I down shift it never seem to close the throttle blade completely, especially around 2000 rpm when it holds that rpm for some reason. Meaning, it won't keep slowing in gear until idle. Which of course would be the time I would push in the clutch. I don't have any engine or fault codes in my system for the throttle if it was the pedal or the actual throttle blade. When I find a nice open road, I can downshift with the paddle and let it slow down by compression but unlike a manual, it won't pull down to around idle speed for some reason. The Pontiac throttle blade followed the path of the gas pedal but again, it was a manual. I never have driven a manual shift mustang to see if this same thing occurs.
Maybe it is for emmissions or something like that but I don't like it. If I was running around an autocross course I would hate it. When in sport mode the shifting is as crisp as I would imagine most automatics could get. Is there a program that will enable the throttle blade to open and close according to my foot and not a program in the ECU?
If I need to ask in another forum I will but I don't know which one would be better. If any suggestions or clarifications are needed, please let me know.
Thanks
Russ
