First time posting on the forums and not for a good reason. My 2015 Mustang GT was throwing codes p0365 and p0369, both relating to bank 1 exhaust camshaft position sensor. Decided I’d replace all camshaft position sensors. After I did that and cleared the code and drove the car around with no check engine light. Turned the car off and started it again and the code showed back up. Replaced the connector as it looked a little beat up and the code hasn’t come back since. Now comes the problem. I took the car out and noticed the exhaust sounded muffled and the car had no low end torque. After a few minutes of driving I got a p0014 code (bank 1 exhaust cam timing over-advanced.) Ended up replacing both bank 1 VVT solenoids and doing an oil change. Code was still present. Hooked my scan tool up and did a VVT monitor test (results in photo below.)
Then I took the car to a buddy with an expensive scan to to see if I could check the cam phasers. Tried adjusting the timing while the car was running to see if I could notice any change in the exhaust note or the way the car idled. No matter how much I advanced or retarded the timing everything sounded the same. At this point I’m almost convinced that it’s the cam phasers so I called my local ford service manager, luckily I know outside of his job, and asked what a cam phaser replacement would run me. He said he’d never seen a cam phaser on a 5.0 go bad so he doubts that it’s that. He said it could be my tune but I find that hard to believe as I’ve been running the same tune for a few months and I’ve never had problems. At this point I’m at a loss. Car is out of warranty and would hate to spend $2,500 on a cam phaser replacement and not have the problem resolved. Anyone have any input?
