Thanks for the advice everyone!

I took the idea of shopping around for 18s that are still being sold as new on dealers lots. I found one that has the exact color combo and options I was looking for, and it was listed for a few grand below the original sticker price. When I got there to check out the car, they made me an offer for a little over 10k under original MSRP. The only thing out of the ordinary is that it has a few hundred miles on it, driven a few times by the owner of the dealership.

Definitely seems like a much better deal than the equivalent used model (I get to start fresh on the warranty and everything, and I get to know who the previous owner was), but should this be red flag? How nervous should I be about not being in the driver's seat for the initial break-in period?
Given the 2019 engine update, the 2018 MY wasn’t a consideration in my case. See thread:

I would look for a larger discount than $10,000 on a 2018 as the 2019 can be had for 9-10% off MSRP quite easily.

FYI these cars have a 100 mile break-in period:

You should be fine.. this subject has been discussed a lot on the forums. Doesn't seem to be a definitive correlation between engine issues and break in. There have been some very knowledgeable guys and gals who have broken in properly and had issues... while others have not. Some guys did not baby their car at all and are doing fine. That's not to say you should ignore the recommended process.
Enjoy the car

Hi, I’m in the market too. Is a few hundred miles on it still considered a new car? Is there a cut off legally or otherwise what constitutes a new car with mileage? A dealer new car with a few hundred miles sounds like a used car to me at a used car price.

technically if it has not been titled and registered by a private party it can be considered "NEW" I looked at a "NEW" 2019 350 that had 3000 miles on it. The GM of the dealership had been driving it. It was heavily discounted, but i did not want something with that many miles on it. If you search this forum there are other conversations regarding this... It's all about your comfort level and ability to negotiate.
If you want something untouched off the transport truck then I would recommend to keep looking.
