I hear ya. However aren’t Rs delivered to dealers in an open trailer w other cars? Never seen a dealer get delivery of cars in closed trailers unless private sale or am I wrong?
That's probably true but most cars are only on a truck from a rail yard to the dealer, not cross country.

True, but if the car is damaged from the factory it's on the dealer. If you have already purchased the car and it arrives damaged to you, it's your problem.

I went through the same thing when I was looking to buy out of state, the shipping part was nerve racking to think about. Hopefully some more people can chime in here on this, I believe lots of GT350 owners shipped their car from out of state.

Eric, He sees a good shipping deal and unless he has heard or seen the horror stories, he's going to go ahead with it. I'm just going to wish him well and hope for the best. ;)

Oh no doubt, go for it! I'm just super paranoid and picky, but that's my problem and I have to deal with it! :D

I have not decided anything yet. Going to talk at length with them tomorrow. I am wondering since it is Autonation to Autonation it may be a safer transport. I will get an understanding of what recourse there is if any damage. I have had an M3 shipped to me before so I have been down this road. I will keep ya informed. I wouldn’t be going through an out of state situation of the Dealers were not such a pita to deal w on ADMs. Thanks for the feedback. I do love these forums as they are a wealth of knowledge.

A key question to ask is whether this is a dealer-to-dealer trade within the Autonation network or do you own it once it leaves the FL dealership. If they own it, then the damage would be on them and you can walk. if you own it, best to have read-up on the horror stories of shipping these cars in advance so that you go in eyes wide open.

Semi off topic....this is the one and only break with Calif dealers...(ADM specialists all). The "dealer fee" is capped by statute at $80. The concept of the fee is to cover dealer costs (staff members cost money) to do the DMV registration paperwork etc. Used to be $50 in the mid 80s, then to $55, and then a few years back to $80 (pushing it) in relation to behind the scenes work the dealer has to pay someone to do (especially now that it is electronic and they longer are using a secretary to type up, mail docs, buy stamps- but that computer does need to be paid for and that back office staff member who does the stuff).

I am in final stages of getting an R and the invoice shows (outside of Tax, Tag and ADM) a "Dealer Service Fee" of $799. Is that a normal fee or excessive? They claim it is something all Florida dealerships do. I am in Texas and will be shipping here.

Update: I did do some internet research and they said this is typical in Florida and to try and negotiate it off the MSRP (or ADM in this case).
Not all dealers in Florida charge a "Dealer Fee".
I bought my GT350 From Mullinax Ford (Apopka, FL) -Near Orlando.
And NO Dealer Fee.
