First - Thanks to everyone who contributes to this forum. This is an invaluable resource when you take the time to search it for content you are looking for and for what you find by accident that you know you will use in the future. :clap2:

Last week I placed an order for a MY17 GT350 - Ruby Red, black roof, convenience package. The dealer I'm working with has been great and he tells me that I am the first order they put in for MY17. This dealer sold MY16 GT350's - I found this dealer through this forum from another member who bought from them. After the order was placed the dealer emailed a copy of the VOC to me. A couple of days later, I replied and asked for a copy of the DORA and I was told that they had not received that yet, but would send it to me when they received it.

My question is whether it is common for the dealer to receive the DORA days or weeks after the order is placed? I was thinking that the DORA was received within a day of the order being placed.

the way mine worked, or so I was told. Order placed does not mean accepted into the Ford system. For example, I placed my order on 9/22, accepted on 10/9, then it showed in the DORA few days later.

I placed an order this Monday 4/18/16 and received the DORA on the same day. Last year I placed an order 10/14/15 and received the DORA the same day. Unfortunately the allocation was never pulled and that car never got built.

Hope you have better luck this time around!

I'll never understand how you can get to the point you did, mid MY 'production' and not get your car built. Don't you have a 'contract' at that point?
At the least, you should get interest on your deposit.

Same for my order. It doesn't always happen the same day. I was told the order needs to be accepted/aknowledged by Ford in order to create a DORA.

That sounds like what I heard from the general sales manager when confirming my order today.

So, if I understand correctly, a dealer can only place the order with a confirmed allocation. But that placed order has to be confirmed by Ford then via VOC/DORA which can be immediate, or can take a while?

Any dealer can place an order, with or without an allocation. That order is then accepted and DORA created. This can all happen without the dealer having an allocation. That's the frustrating part. What I've learned from this forum is:
1. Look at their historical allocations, if they didn't have 2016 allocations then it would be a big red flag
2. Ask to contact the Ford regional rep to confirm they have an allocation
3. Cross your fingers and wait
