You're right, there are plenty of people who don't think this process is necessary or worth the price...but they aren't on my thread calling people lazy or degrading them by insinuating they are stupid to pay an "asinine" price.

So long story short, thanks for your input, it did nothing but clutter my thread.

LOL. You didn't set the detailer's price so I'm not sure why you are so personally insulted as if it was you ripping of the customer.

Peace not worth my time honestly since you don't want a debate but rather your voice and only your voice.

Wow for a "muscle car" forum it SURE has gotten overly sensitive here lately where twisting of words. Very very sad to see this forum going downhill with completely overly-sensitive people over nothing.

Forums are for the open exchange of opinions whether you like those opinions or not.
I'm not insulted that you have an opinion...you insulted myself and others by your cynical response, derogatory remarks, and continued debate with assumption everyone else is less intelligent than you. Had you simply stuck with "here's what I know, here's what I assume, and here's other options to think about" we'd have avoided this pointless bickering. But as you alluded to in the rest of the above quote, many on this forum feel it's their duty to comment on something with no regard to civility.

Care to have last word?

Evolvd theres a local shop here suntrek or something like that that installs a 3M clear vinyl over your car that is supposed to offer incresible scratch and ding protection. Did you ever consider that instead of the liquid OptiCoat?

The last word is stop being so hyper sensitive and grow a thicker skin. Do i think MOST people who use a coating are lazy with their car care? Yes. Do I think MOST Americans who eat McDonalds are overweigtht? Yes.

You're American and likely have eaten McDonalds. Do I care? No. Do I think your overweight? No freaking idea and see answer a) that I dont care. Generalizations- no need to take it so personally.

Im lazy as sh*t right now, and not going to wash my dirty car, but who the hell cares frankly? Go ahead and call me too lazy it won't hurt me once bit- I admit it. Damn I feel like I need to take some Midol just to get on some of your hyper-sensitive levels around here these days. I thought this was a muscle car forum; at least it used to be.

I did not get the opti-coat to prevent dents and scratches. I got it to enhance the color and clarity of the paint for long term care.

My next step will probably be Xpel or other clear vinyl for rock/chip protection.

What does this being a muscle car forum have to do with people being jerks? How bout you just avoid denigrating people to make yourself feel more manly and assuming everyone should feel as you feel. Get it yet?

How bout you do the rest of us a favor and unsubscribe from this thread as you've done nothing but bring it down with your holier than thou attitude. BYE FELICIA

Some of the best detailing companies in Michigan use opticoat including Motor City Auto Spa who I'm going to the millisecond my wheels arrive. I think my DIB is just begging to have it done. Thanks for the heads up Evolvd, your detailed thoughts sold me. After coming from a black 2011 gt that I washed at least 2-3 times a week, I'm more than happy to make the investment.

I'm not the type that thinks detailing is therapuetic or a way to save cash. It's hellacious to do it right and I can think of 10,000,000,000 different things I'd rather be doing other than me performing a mediocre thousand stage wax job on my own car. Idc if you have a V6, ecoboost, gt or a gt350, these are nice cars and no one should be chastised for making theirs shine. I get that many enthusiasts are detailing experts. Props if you are but I'm not one of them nor do I care to be. I just want to keep a clean car and enjoy driving it.

Essque, I'm of the same mindset. While I do enjoy washing my car on a regular basis I have no real desire to waste a day to do everything to a level I would be satisfied with. I work 50 hours a week so it's nice to spend the weekend driving my car and going places rather than being stuck in my garage applying wax lol.

I definitely recommend this product after seeing the before and after results. Only time will tell if the investment was worth it but from the research I've done I doubt I'll be worrying about it.

i find stuck in my garage stroking my car with polish, glaze, sealant, wax, and detail spray to be quite therapeutic... especially when I'm done and go damn... I did that. It's definitely something you have to enjoy doing and have attention for detail, that's for sure

What convince me to use this was my detailer putting it on a black LaFerrari. So if a $2M dollar car is getting opti-coated then throw that stuff on my $40k mustang. Haha I have not been disappointed since. The compliments I still get are totally worth it.

Also my detailer was sworn to secrecy on who the owner was but I'm guessing it was Money.

Her are some pictures of it. It was 1 of 499. Damn!

For the opticoat haters. Install it on your car and then do your normal cleaning. Then chime in and tell me it didn't make a difference... I have owned 5 black vehicles. Why 5 black? Well because I know how to take care of black paint and not afraid to do a little work to keep them looking nice. My 15 black mustang was the first one I opticoated and let me tell you. It is day and night different! Much easier to clean and keep clean. Its been 6 months and it still has the just wax look and feel with no wax applied and 1 wash a week....

same with me, my DD taurus, corvette and mustang have all had the coating.. i also have clear bra on both the taurus and mustang. it was right around $200 each... for the opti, worth every penny. my taurus has had the coating since last april, water still beads right off, all I've done is wash it, the color just pops.... never seen another one like it

i think its amazing how the paint pops considering these pics are taken with a phone... in person the cars paint is amazing.

You guys are slowly but surely convincing me I am just so damn broke from spending too much on mods for both my cars lately and just bought a new truck last Saturday. Starting to worry about making it through the slow season and now here I am wanting to drop a grand on getting the car super detailed

it doesn't have to be $1000... it depends on detailer. mine were $225 for each car. that included exterior buff and opti coat, interior and engine bay.
