Opticoat Pro+ is amaze-balls!

Got my Ruby Red '16 coated today and holy cow was a shine! I'll have to take pics tomorrow as they finished too late for me to get good pics with sunlight. Highly recommend this if you're looking for the deep wet-shine look! I also had them do the wheels, glass, and interior with Opticoat products.

I paid $1070 for the Opticoat Pro+, OptiGuard and Optiglass. So basically every surface of the car was covered with a protectant. They even pulled off all the wheels and coated the face and barrels.

All the certified dealers around here want 800 for just the Opticoat so I think the price was reasonable.

I didn't get the dealer add-on protectant for mine. Also, within the last month, my family purchased a Subaru and a Volvo. At both dealerships, they tried to sell them on this type of thing (may have been a different brand). At the Subaru dealer, the sales guy even went through a whole demonstration with lighting a hood on fire (set up for the demonstration, not on an actual car!) to show how amazing it was.

Long story short, I did some quick searching on Google and everything I found was that this was a scam of sorts. Not saying they didn't actually put some polish on your car and that it doesn't look great, but I guess the consensus was that this was just like any other polish and that it would need to be reapplied...just like any other polish. Their biggest selling point is the supposed warranty on the product but again, I really couldn't find anything positive about spending the $750 - $1000 for this. In both cases, we declined it and will stick to normal applications of (relatively) normal priced polishes/waxes.

OP, not at all trying to $hit on your parade, but just giving my experiences/research on these products.

EDIT - I just want to be clear that my research was not for the specific product that the OP got so perhaps this one is better. I don't know. I just know that both the Subaru and Volvo dealerships tried to sell us on some sort of similar additive (that I can't remember the name of) and I couldn't find too many positive reviews on it.

I did some research on this forum as well as others and I was amazed at the finished product. The paint looks so much deeper and wet that the proof is in the pudding. Plus the shop that did the install will do a one month check up for free to fix any high or low spots in the product and reapply or cut as necessary.

I agree. I have no doubt most of the shine people claim is from polishing. I think these ceramic coatings are mostly a scam and paying $1,000+ is just asinine.

I wouldn't take other's wrod either as there are apparently lots of other suckers too. It doesnt make the product legit.

And Im sure they offered a free touchup, for nearly $1,100 the bend you over good for $100 worth of materials. Basically paid them more than a doctor or lawyer per hour for something you could do at home for $300 for Opticoat syringe and a PC 7424XP (and own the DA polisher)

Damn I should order some $59.99 tubes of Opticoat and using my XP7424 and a bit of polish and charge $800 a pop at a "discount" and a few hours time with a material cost of $75. More than some people make in a week right htere for a few hours. That's WAY overpaying. The fact that Opticoat was about $400-500 a year or 2 ago tells me half that insane price is market hype and not value.

Of how shiny the car is? :lol: Pet peeve of mine- people posting coating and wax photos like you can see anything (or the coating itself) but how a new car should look. Typically new cars are shiny.

You'd be surprised at how a good decon, cut/polish will jewel even a brand new car up.

Well yes but you get what I mean. Taking a pic of a polished car looks shiny like a polished car should. And you CANNOT see Opticoat on a car, taking a pic is laughable when people post them.

Why not post up a photo though? You are proud of your shiny new thing, but no photo?

I know you can't see the opticoat, just saying a pic is better than nothing, even if it serves no purpose other than to show off a shiny new toy. I don't expect anyone to make a decision to buy/apply opticoat based off an online photo.
