I paid $900 total. $400 was standard for the opticoat pro but the ford dealer really jacked up my paint with swirls when they chose to wash it before I took ownership. Most of the cost depends on labor. Most of my panels needed light wet sanding to remove scratches. It was a total of 17-19 hours in labor. Well worth the $900. I'm very anal about my vehicles and the detailer removed scratches I told him he couldn't remove.

In no way will I ever believe any applied product is for a lifetime. What is the real world time frame for a re-application?

In college our dealer sold some bs coating to people saying they never had to wax their cars. I'm not saying that opti-coat is this. But I also don't believe it will last forever. I enjoy detailing my own cars and am curious about the lifespan of it.

I don't care what you paid for it to get done. It takes a lot of labor to detail a car correctly. No bashing here on that aspect.

For those not wanting to drop a significant amount of money on something like opt-coat, take a look at Menzerna Power Lock. It's priced fairly and has great durability along with providing a nice pop to the paint. A product like opti or Gtechnic can be a decent upfront investment but IMO if you drive your car daily it will pay for itself with ease of upkeep. I personally chose not to get my mustang coated with a product like opti but that is only because I do not drive it often and my normal products do well enough for me.

Standard Opti-coat in my area is $300 applied. That is with no paint correction and the usual cleaning and buffing. I went with the Opti-coat Pro+ which is the highest end coating which is normally $650. Then they did the wheels to include taking each one off and coating the face, barrel, lug holes and all the spokes on PP wheels. Then I also did the Opti-guard which goes on your fabrics and leather interior bits. And finally I did Opti-glass which is like Rain-X but doesn't wash off. That altogether, with labor, was $1070.

Just keep that in mind when comparing prices...I had a lot of work done.

My experience with opticoat....2 years ago I bought the 2year warranty product. After 1 1/2 years I saw the start of swirl marks. Mind you, for that time frame, I NEVER waxed the car. It was only hand washed at the same detailed shop as the coating. I also covered the car but kept her outside during that time except 3 winter months. I've been told the car cover created the start of the swirl marks. I have just applied the five year opticoat and the car looks brand new STILL. the paint is deep and reflective. No swirls or marks. No wax. I'm told I have to use a waterless system now to clean the car and cannot use the cover. Anyone else have any luck with the waterless system? Looking for recommendations...

This was interesting about waxing vs ceramic coatings. Watch "Ceramic Coatings vs Waxing. Explained" on YouTube
