I have a blend date of 12/4/2019, but my guy says it’s not part of the recall.
When I had the SC pulley replaced in January 2022, I asked him to reflash/ update everything. So it might have been corrected then.

Not to hijack this thread but did they ever specifically pinpoint the cause of the supercharger pulley failure? There are several other members who have reported the same failure and I’m wondering if we will all eventually see this?

Just called my ford dealer.. The system is different than ford.com system- there is a transmission recall for reprogramming - I will need to do -do not trust the highway transportation or the ford.com website just call your dealer and give them your Vin

I don't think you will have to worry about the recall until Ford sends you a recall notice in the mail.

I asked if I could see the pulley after the repair. They told me Ford asked for the part to be FedEx’d immediately so they could see it. So I don’t know if it failed internally or just blew seals. But both front and back blew grease out. Heard nothing since except it’s becoming more common.

At least the failure does not strand you on the side of the road…just no boost.

Had my local dealer (Walker Ford) here in central Florida install the PCM/TCM update about a week ago; drove about 250+ miles since and it DOES feel positively better. Install took about an hour.

Mashing the GO pedal while already in motion, throttle feels more responsive, and tires hook up quicker while in 'my mode' / 'sport' modes. *Seems* to reach triple digit speeds more effortlessly and quicker.

From a standstill, definitely punches faster in 'drag mode' and that second of delay / hesitation between flooring pedal and acceleration is definitely GONE... at least that's my unsubstantiated opinion.

Prior to reflash, service tech asked if engine was aftermarket tuned, since this update would likely overwrite; mine is stock aside from CAI and catback exhaust with about 6,100 miles.

Of note, my build date was in late June of 2020, so this might have already been resolved in later builds (I have nothing to back this claim...) and not affect everyone's PCM/TCM, but certainly made a noticable and postive difference with mine. Also, I never received a snail mail notice from Ford, but got an email from CARFAX and checked my VIN online.

Anyone else with similar positive results from reflash?

This doesn't give me much confidence in NHTSA... I guess it is a Mustang after all!

My 22 had a hissing from the tranny when idling that my 21 didn't have. Well, they updated the tune in my 21 and guess what? Hissing on that one also now. lol

I had the update done and cannot really tell the difference other then the car having to relearn my driving habits.

Anyone else got this done? I read it fixes a problem if the oil is a quart low or less than 20% life...neither of which I will ever deal with. Should I even bother? I hate taking the car to the dealer.

I do not believe this is an official NHTSA safety recall. It is most likely a Ford technical service bulletin (TSB).
