Oil Testing

There has been plenty of debate over oil to run and I thought this might be an interesting read for some, now granted it was done by amsoil so take it as you will. Also the Pennzoil ultra is the pre-pure tech natural gas oil they have now I believe. Rotella t6 isn't used as its a diesel oil and they were just testing competitor brands.

I have numerous oil analysis that I have taken on my previous cars and the mustang. So far Amsoil has worked great for me.

Pennzoil Ultra (old formula) right now. It's been stellar in my UOAs. Once I'm out of this, I'll probably just go ahead and switch to Red Line. Heck, I might do it soon and just use my stock of PU for the Fusion.

Why switch to Red Line? Looking at the pdf that Nihil posted, the first thing I do is throw out the manufacturer that paid for the test (Amsoil). Other than the NOACK which was very good on the Red Line, a lot of the other tests didn't look so good. Pennzoil Ultra looked consistently good.

Looking at that document, Pennzoil Ultra and Royal Purple EP both performed pretty well across the line. I hear a lot about Motul and Rotella but do either come in a 5w-30?

The Motul Xcess only comes in 5w-40 as does Rotella T6. But Motul does make other lines of oil that come in 5w-30, not sure if anyone has run anything other than the Xcess.
