I took my Tech pack in to the dealer to replace my oil cooler lines and after waiting 2 hours they took me back to the car on the lift and told me they needed more time as they would have to remove the entire front end to access the lines. Of course, after being told it would be a 2 to 2 1/2 hour job, I was not happy. My car was the first they tried to R2 the lines, so I told them to hold off and put everything back together and I would reschedule at a later date when I had more time. I also recommended they take the lines on hand and R2 the 2017 they've on hold from being sold due to the recall so they could figure out how to remove the chin splitter and not have to remove the entire front end. I'm very particular with all my cars and I just want to ask those who have had their lines R2 already, how long did it take and did your mechanic have to remove the front end of the car to access. This is a concern of mine the I don't get. Being mechanically inclined myself, it doesn't make sense to have remove so much anything access to under the engine is required. If you know how to install the splitter, you should have instructions on how to remove it. Evidently, the mechanics working on my car were afraid they would damage the front lower valance and wanted to remove he entire front end and splitter as one piece. I'd appreciate all responses so I can make an educated decision. Thanks in advance.
Can you PM me your dealer? I need to have mine done and I'm not anxious to have a similar ordeal.

Its not difficult at all. No need to remove the front bumper cover, etc. Just the belly pan and middle splitter piece need to be removed. All came off very easy. Lots of those little screws.
I did it myself in an hour or so. Must admit that their instructions are a bit confusing as they co-mingle the "R" instructions with the regular model so most of those steps are not required. Removing the "R" splitter is more complicated.

I will take bumper and splitter off soon to install APR splitter and after reading about it I'd say it looks easier to remove the whole front end! Less screws and tabs to break! Anyways my car is at dealer right know for recall service and I'll ask how they did it...

Thanks for the pictures. My appointment is 4/17. My dealer said the whole job will take no more than 2 hours. We shall see.

An interesting aside to this oil line recall. I purchased an extra set of lines in Nov 2016 with a date of 091016 on the tag. I called Ford to see IF these lines I purchased would be a good set. They said if they shipped them they were good and followed up with if a part is under a recall it is immediately pulled from distribution and won't be sold. I hope this is the case with this set of back up lines I have.

I'm not an expert on crimps in the lines so its impossible for me to tell much. They look the same. It was my understanding the issue was with how far the hose was inserted into the fitting before being crimped. I think some hoses were NOT completely seated in the fitting before being crimped.
