We just about got taken out on the A9 on the way home from the NC500. Having given the car in front plenty of opportunity to pass the vehicle in front of it, and it not having done so, I pulled out and started overtaking both. Then she decides its time to go and starts pulling out as we're alongside, notices at what Jacqui tells me was "the last minute" and flings herself back into lane. I looked in the rear view mirror to see the crossover veering in and out of both lanes trying to get back under control. Very close to a bad end to the weekend there because some people don't use their mirrors before overtaking. Unfortunately got none of it recorded as the dashcam was ahead of the front of her car when she pulled out.
I see that happen at least once on a weekly basis going up and down the A9. They better hurry up and get the dualling done as soon as possible.

Joking aside driving is tuff the driver needs to be thinking
as far ahead as he can see, risk assessing 360° all the time
The faster your going the greater the intensity, no track day can prepare you! there all going the same way.

Totally agree. When I was teaching my kids to drive I used to really pump hazard perception into them. Constantly I used to cover the rear view mirror and ask what colour the car behind is (without looking in the side view) and I used to get them to commentate as they were driving, pointing out to me the potential hazards ahead.

A couple of years back, a car pulled out in front of me and I drove round it without even braking. The kids were stunned how I missed it and how I reacted so quickly but I had seen the guy getting in his car and something about his body language just told me he was in a hurry and I was 'ready' for him to pull out. I had eve started to move towards the centre of the road.

I made plenty of comments about 'the teenagers' on the trip that like to drive fast but one thing that impressed me, and made me feel happier to drive with them, is they never went fast round blind corners, you could tell they were always reading the road ahead.

Anyway are we off topic?

There is no topic, but yes, going fast round a blind bend, is stupid as sh1t, or anything blind, if you can see everything, you're probably okay.... You know, check for police and all that ;)!

I find police are normally coming the other way over a blind crest or something like that

Yeh, its a great name for a thread. No-one can complain about going off topic on here......maybe we should see how off topic we can go?

slowhand99 the M25 is fine, its just the traffic! On yeh and the horrible concrete bit...............and the speed cameras......and the fact that its near London and the M4, but other than all that, its fine.

Seriously though, I would take Scotland (with Tourists) over driving around the South (with Tourists) any day!

It's he same down here in the South West of England. I work just off the M5 motorway in Exeter near the A30 exit to Cornwall - always a nightmare getting home on a Friday night in the holidays.
That will be me then going down to St Austell for the weekend.
Traffic just past jamaica inn :frusty:
