Gee that is disappointing because those DS2500's if they are on my PP1 are terrible. long pedal until solid, No initial bite, poor release, poor modulation. I almost flew off the track Saturday trying to pass a miata! Real race pads squeak loud and are just not streetable. The pads on the pp1 are totally quiet street able pads. I was trackin my GT for the 1st time and I think I cooked those pads. They are junk and all smeared over my rotors.

This is what the Ferodo website says 2500 is a "race pad". From my experience on track with the stock pp1 pad I can't believe it is a ferodo 2500. It feels more like a pepboys raybestos powerstop. I see your convincing post and I don't know what to believe.

I like quantifiable data rather than subjective opinion. I see in your post from their website that it says they are for track use, but that depends on many other variables, namely the weight of the vehicle. I'm sure the 2500s would work great on a Miata.
Their website also tells the truth clear as day. 20 - 500°C which equates to 932°F at the top end. Race pads can easily get up to 1600°F so it's no wonder these don't hold up.

I did one track day (my first ever track day) on OEM PP pads and I glazed them. I personally think they work very well for beginners who are learning braking feel but yeah, they don't stand up to heat well (for our heavy-ass car.)

I agree. Ferodo is supposed to be a good brand and I'm taken aback by them saying it is a race pad. I can't think of any condition where pads at race speeds would be under 500C. I'm going with what I know at least until I get a better handle on the GT. I'm going back to carbotechs xp20 front and xp12 in rear. I'm hoping that the PP1 equal compounds front and rear are over biasing the back making braking unstable in the rear. If that does not work I think I need to find parts to lower the rear. The chassis rake on the pinch rails on my stock car is 1". That seems excessive. If it is excessive that also explains why I hate the handling and makes braking worse. On my corvette racecar I could feel 1/4" changes in rake. I think going from 1" rake to 1/2" rake would be a huge improvement.

I put 10 track days on the stock pads and they never acted up at all, they just slowly wore down to below a third at which point I stop using pads and junk them. I found them to be a very decent pad when properly cooled, and with a heavy fast car like an S550 Mustang you should have cooling if you're going to be pushing hard. I come from an endurance racing background and know how to manage brakes, the biggest factor in how long brakes last and how well they work is the guy behind the wheel.
