They claim on eBay that their product will add up to 35% more hp, up to 25% more torque and can save up to 5 mpg for all v6 v8 Mustangs from 1997 thru 2016.

That is a lot of "up to" claims. I know they are "up to" making money. Which is not bad, we all are interested in that. IMHO, As long as it is above board and honest. No leaving people in your wake or taking advantage of people.

I sent them a request for before / after dyno results and quarter mile results. I also asked them for their view on how this device would impact their customers Ford warrantees for people interested in keeping them intact for as long as possible. I do hope they answer my questions.

It would really be bad if someone spent $40 bucks for a device that may or may not deliver the perceived value. On top of that, to have Ford tell them at some point that they violated the warrantee.

My question for the people in this forum are, thoughts and comments about this and experiences with this device or other tuning products like it. I would also like to understand what systems and parameters products like this look for and update. What kind of tuning are they doing?

If it did anything more people would know about it and it would cost a bit more. Sorry but this is a scam all too familiar with people such as tornado or inline 12v fan called a electric supercharger. As well as other Mass air flow sensor chips that are just a spliced in on the wires claiming too add mpg and horse power. If you don't want too void your warranty look into the JMS pedalmax, stick with suspension and exhaust mods till after warranty is up. Track key is coming out soon which when installed by the dealer will be a tune upgrade plus other features and will maintain your warranty.

Yep. I just wish there was more being done against snake oil sales. If that is what this is. I do wonder what kind of sales they get. I can imagine people read between the "up to" words and think for $40 bucks or whatever, it's worth a shot. Eh. I'm over it. Was curious on thoughts and if anyone had experience and what they did.

This is kinda similar to how those chips back in the day simply plugged into the ECU. I'm not sure if it works or how well it works. I used to be the daring type and would try anything. But these days, with a car that costs over $40,000, I am not daring enough to waste $40 on a no-name brand Ebay product that could possibly blow my engine and void my warranty. So I would stay away. It isn't worth it especially when there are well known companies out there that are widely used. If you want something inexpensive, then look for a used SCT device that is unmarried with at least 3 unlocks remaining. You can find DIablosport InTune devices even cheaper than that. Use the canned tune files and you'll get noticeable gains. Don't risk damaging your engine.

Without being tailored to a specific engine this is useless at best dangerous at worst. Like those go chips that lie to the ecu about air intake temps to add timing. It will ad power until detonation. Might get away with it on an NA motor. Will kill an FI motor quickly.

I read and article about these some years back. Basically all they do is have a closed circuit loop inside the module. The circuitry is nothing more. It gets power from the OBDII port and then basically flashes lights to make it appear is if it's doing something. Maybe it'll make a sound or flash a light when you approach your redline. Maybe.........

And besides, do your math. Do you realize what up to 35% more horsepower is? You'd need 6lbs of BOOST to get 35% more horsepower from a Coyote.

When something looks too good to be true, step back and think about what is being advertised and use your intuition. If $40 could get you another 150 horsepower you'd probably be seeing a lot more of them being reviewed by professional services, journalists, and enthusiasts and not being sold on eBay.
