Man, I got called all sorts of stuff for my 200have3 Cobra, which had two left side badges on it. It was a factory screwup but people thought it was a fake.
True story, I bought an 89 GT in Jan of 89. Driver's side had the 5.0 badge but the passenger side didnt. Man I was torn between going baseless or getting the other badge

If these fake badges makes their owners feel good, or make their kids happy, then nobody has the right to judge them. And that's coming from a person who adores authenticity.

So lying is ok if its done to children?
Its disingenuous. Its attempting to make an affiliation where there is none. Its deceptive and dishonest. I don't really care that much if someone does this, as in the grand scheme of things its really small potatoes, but it's certainly lying.

Judge away.

Yes it's making a untrue claim, but I'd only attach "deceptive and dishonest" it is attempted to have money made from it as something it is not. like selling or leasing it as a "Shelby".

I think it's mostly entertainment and for laughs. I don't think most people are genuinely angry or would confront these people over this. This is a collective site of enthusiasts so it's something that's of interest and humorous. No biggie.

Sorta reminds me of how - back in high school - a rich kid in the neighborhood got a '72 Nova. His dad originally got him a '78 Corvette, but the kid pissed and moaned he didn't want a 'Vette. So, in comes this bright yellow Nova hatchback (lol right there) with great big "454-SS" stickers emblazoned across the quarter panels.

I stopped in to have a gander at the car and this kid would not shut up about how it's a 500-horsepower 454 and it was done at the factory like that and it's super rare.

Well, to make a long story short, I took one look under the hood and started to chuckle. I mentioned to dude that his 454 sure bears a striking resemblance to a small block and if he was making 500 horsepower through a 2-barrel Rochester, he should contact Guinness or Ripley's cuz ain't nobody gonna believe that.

Over the course of a Weekend, those quarter panel stickers mysteriously disappeared and a couple weeks later in shop class I helped him put a 4-barrel Edelbrock setup on the car. :D

This Mustang 'vert? Tacky as F***.

(...) and the Cobra is too small.
of course... it's the "baby Shelby" :D (ecoboost :D)

Didn't Shelby USA offer a "Shelby Mustang GT" that was a tweaked out Ecoboost themselves?!

Everybody lies.

Most people think its okay to lie to children. My sister is not one of them. She makes it a point to go to malls at Christmas times and tell all the kids in line to see Santa that there really isn't a Santa Clause. Surprisingly, none of the parents have ever thanked her. Even more surprising, none of the children have either. LoL

I'm not offended because its deceptive or dishonest.

I'm offended because it's some really tacky poser s**t to do to an otherwise awesome car.

No one is "judging" anyone for installing fake badges, I know that I'm certainly not. Just car guys (Mustang enthusiasts) having fun at the expense of a fellow Mustang owner. It's similar to making fun of the guys that use to rock the pink wiper blades & curb finders on their cars back in the 90's.

Eh, I didn't know I was such an evil person for laughing at people who put badges on their car that do not reflect what they actually have. I'm glad someone has set me on the straight and narrow. I will never again decide that anything anyone else does is laughable, because I, "do not have a right to judge."
