Has anyone experimented with a small shot on these cars? A 50-75 basically more so just cooling the charge than anything.

No one is replying because shooting nitrous in an already pressurized system makes kabooms.

Yes most of the time if overdone, but plenty of people run a small shot on FI cars, anywhere from 35-75 mostly just to cool the charge of air. Maybe one of the tuners or vendors can chime in if anyone has tried this on the Eco platform.

There really is no more risk of issues on a turbo/sc car than there is on a naturally aspirated car. As long as it's properly installed and you don't go completely overboard on a stock motor it should work fine.

There are quite a few turbo cars running around my area with a little nitrous to help.

None that I've seen. Plus these cars already have a torque monster turbo that's too small, I think throwing nitrous on top of that would only make things worse.

That's why I'm curious, I know a lot of cars with turbos a little larger will use it to fill the spool gap but in my auto with 3:15's there is still a little to be desired it seems under 2600 rpm or so. A nice 50 shot I think could cure that.

Nitrous can sometimes be used to help spool larger turbos, but you have to remember this in regards to that, 1) those turbos are usually enormous and 2) it's utilized on built engines. Throwing nitrous on a EBM with stock internals and the small GT22 would undoubtedly put you in for a bad time.

If you were thinking of utilizing an injection method to cool the air charge, a water/meth kit, like the Snow Stage 3 for EcoBoost engines (Part No. 320), would be a much more viable and reliable option. Not only would you have the cooling effects on the charge air that you desire, but you'd also have the added benefit and protection of the additional octane provided by the methanol. Although you can tune for the WMI and make 30-40 more horsepower (average estimates), you can also just run it without being tuned to utilize it more as a safeguard against detonation (knock).

It's your car so take this with a grain of salt... But nitrous is a short race solution (since the bottle will go dry at some point), how much time in a short race will you be below 2600 rpm? You can launch at a higher rpm than that.

I don't know, I think water/meth is a better choice like Juben mentioned.

So at what rpm are you thinking of initiating it? I take it you haven't used nitrous before?

You want to hit it to get the engine to 2600 rpm. That means what, off idle?

Send me pics of the carnage when you're done, please.

I've actually used nitrous religiously on every car since high school, but this is my first time with FI and my first 4cyl all my previous mustangs have been GT's and my trucks have always been the v8's. I always spray of the hit, I usually run a momentary instead of a window so I know I'm in control of it as I no lift shift even entering the hwy lol. So I don't know if your trying to imply I'm some newb to nitrous or racing but I'm far from. The meth is for sure something I will look into, but nitrous is a hard bang for the buck to beat when properly set up.

Throw nitrous to this car and see what happens. We're trying to tell you that it's gonna end poorly. This isn't an old 302 that you can spray away on. It's a lot different when you add boost to the equation. Meth will provide the headroom to make extra power and do it safely. I'm not new to boosted 4 cylinders or the EcoBoost platform. I'm just trying to give you some advice before you popped an engine.

I appreciate it, that's why I asked. I just was looking for answers on if anyone's tried or if it's a possibility if the proper precautions are taken and it's a small shot. The candid answers are welcome. The meth is for sure something I will look into.

Thanks!

W/ a stock turbo that makes boost at such low revs, and you talking about using nitrous to help spool it...well, just sounds like questions from someone not familiar. No disrespect intended.

As for general use...do it and let us know.
