I sent them a private message yesterday but no reply. How long did they usually take?
They're usually pretty quick, within hours if not next day but they are all probably having an extra long weekend

Just got off the phone after talking to a woman called, I think, Valerie from Ford. Was told a pretty sad story. I am sure she said that the policy for cars ordered after March 2015 is that it will be 12 months until BUILD date, let alone delivery date. This doesn't ring true as my understanding is that RHD cars are being built in batches. I was a bit speechless by this point. So, car won't be built until about 12 months after ordering (September 4, 2015), then 12 weeks transit to Australia, then 2 weeks for Ford to fiddle about with it before delivery. So we're talking Jan 2017 for a car ordered early Sept 2015. I understand that those who signed up in late 2014 have had to wait that long or longer, but this is getting crazy.

And another possibility is that I miss out on a 2017 model by a few days or weeks. Yep, models always change, but I'm happy with a 2016 Mustang right now, but not sure I'll be so happy with a 2016 arriving on the Gold Coast in Jan 2017 when 2017 models have been available for months in the USA. Thems the breaks of us in Australia it seems, so not much can be done about it.

As others have said previously, best to kind of forget about it (if I can) and go on with life until something perhaps arrives one day. That said, the telephone call might just be girding me for the worst ... because if that is the optimistic story, I couldn't bear to think about what worst-case scenario might be ... it kind of coheres with timeline that Phil has in post above.

Sounds about right to be honest..... Not right as in thats how it should be, but correct to most peoples expeiriences so far.

Who knows, maybe Ford has worked out that its better to quote a longer time frame with possibility of shorter occuring, instead of the opposite.

Also if your order falls that close to a build date a couple months before 2017 you will probably have a 2017 build plate anyway.

Im not going to stir up the SYNC 4 thing again! But you might even end up with some options!

Yes, upside might be a better car, and I guess I will get to see more mods in person to help me work out exactly what I want (e.g., exhausts).

MC keep in mind that before the first mustangs hit Oz shores end of last year, USA already had the S550 from August 2014.

So it was already almost a year and a half "old" before we got it. It's just the reality of the Australian market when it comes to some makes and models.

I sure hope Ford speeds up the manufacturing like a lot of the review articles have stated, so that the wait doesn't have to be that long.

If the factory is building the RHD Mustangs 22 hours a day and 7 days a week as it has been stated, then how many do they complete a day ? Anyone care to hazard a guess ?

That timetable is for all production at Flat Rock assembly. They do the RHD in runs, with Australia allocated 300 a month, I think that was the lastest figure Ford was quoted.

Fords of course
Like others have said and what I've thought all along is 12 months wait would be lucky. I ordered late September and was recently told I have a build spot in September. So if all goes well I'll get it Chistmas which makes it 15 months. Of course that will probably blow out.
I just keep telling myself that good things come to those who wait  this will hold true in this instance. ..... because i would have waited a long time and secondly the car is GOOD :headbang::cheers:

Going by the "migration" post there are around 1,000 already here or on the way.

If we use the much reported 4,000 orders, that leaves around 3,000. At 300 per month = ten months to clear.

That's the optimists view anyway.

It's possibly quite a bit more than 4,000 ordered by now. That figure has been around a while. Surely more with the launch and media reviews, etc. I think the concern is whether the queue (did I spell that right?) is equitable, i.e., if you ordered in June you'll get yours sooner than the person who ordered in July, or whether it's a bit random.

Ford US have stated that the entire 2017 build allocation is ordered for AU. Its only a 6 month wait for NZ orders though.
