To answer the OPs original question, the microscratches AKA swirls are coming from poor quality Chinese microfiber. Avoid those things for drying the car. They're okay for wiping seats, trim, tire shine, door jams, etc. But invest in quality microfiber towels for drying, detail spray, polishing, waxing etc.

Claybar will NOT remove the swirls in the paint. Clay will remove any contaminants in the paint and properly prep it for polishing.

Polishing, otherwise known as compounding will remove the scratches from the paint. You will usually have to do a 2-stage polish. One heavier polish for the first pass and then a finishing polish for the second pass. Then, make sure to apply a sealant if it's your daily driver. Sealant's last way longer and good sealants won't reduce shine. If you want that extra pop, which you do because you got a black vehicle, then you definitely want to put a nice wax on it.

I like Adam's and these are the products I use and recommend:
Adam's Correcting Polish
Adam's Finishing Polish
Adam's Liquid Paint Sealant
Adam's Americana Wax

autopia.org is the be-all, end-all for automotive detailing

This. And autogeek. net.

Also, if you wanna get your feet wet in polishing with a dual action polisher, I suggest looking in Harbor Freight. You can get them for less than $70. Just as good as the Porter Cable PC7274 that people will tell you to get, but cheaper.

Also, I use Cobra Microfiber towels. Awesome quality and lasts for a long with with proper care.

After you wash you car you should clay it to get rid of any micro abrasions and contaminants. After that you can seal or wax, I recommend collinite 845. Once you wax, the paint will be smooth like butter and dust will have a hard time sticking to the paint.

How to clay.

Good luck.

I went through the clay process a few days ago, and results are amazing!
Even for windows...
