Massively improved brochure. Well done Ford! I quite like the black roof actually, as per the brochure it looks great on Ignot, but as you say, not so sure about Magnetic. Not keen on the faded stripes either, would go for vinyl gloss black ones.

no indication in there of any "trim" or interior differences with the custom pack. And still no 0-62 times for the auto's or the convertibles...

But still a huge improvement, at last we have a "proper" brochure rather than a leaflet!

Was it not stated previously (by way of an email from one of Andy Barratts people) that there was only one interior for the RHDs and it was the base one?

It was, but given how much they've been wrong about so far I didn't want to give up hope. It makes sense, as they would only have to produce one RHD dashboard. But it also doesn't make sense that no-one in the world who wants RHD can have the top trim. I also want to know what I get for the additional cost over and above the three options together, knowing now that the wheels are the same price whatever the colour (or that silver rear wheels are cheaper if you believe the Ford UK accessories website).

It was indeed. I don't know the exact interior differences between LHD & RHD in Europe but I believe all UK cars come with the "fake" stitching base style interior. That's not to say that the custom pack folks won't get the "soft touch" door panels though. Ford would have cut costs but not manufacturing RHD specific premium interior parts but if they are the same as LHD parts then custom pack cars may get certain premium bits. I think it's fair to say the only way to find out is to patiently wait until delivery day. For reference, my patience was lost in about May.

With the right hand drive market being tiny compared with LHD, and with worldwide homologation being a royal pain in the ass I do wonder if Ford has ever regretted their "global" ideology...

On the one hand its possible many more options may become available with future model years which when coupled with the new road tax bands will probably make the early cars unsellable. On the other, will Ford ever make a business case for producing relatively small quantities of premium RHD dash/seats/etc.

Personally I agree there should be something in the custom pack that makes it worthwhile paying for but it wouldn't surprise me if there wasn't. It's borderline criminal.

If there was only ever going to be one interior they could at least have made it premium.

Definitely agree with that.

I'm still patient as Ford told me 12 months when I ordered in March and I think they will better that. It also helps that so far my car has returned ÂŁ175 in Premium Bond winnings :D.

Assuming they are a straight swap, we could always gradually replace the base trim (e.g. door trim) with the premium parts - at huge expense!

On Etis, my spec says "base", is this the same for those with the custom pack?

BINGO!

I'm with you on that one.

I'm sure (at least I really, really hope) that Ford will apply their learnings from this. I really do think the success of Mustang worldwide has taken them by surprise and they were rather unprepared.

Hopefully, in the near future, we'll be offered:

  • MUCH quicker lead times from order to delivery
  • MUCH better communication!
  • Full options (as per the US)
  • Red tail lights
  • LED headlamp gills
  • SE availability (Cali Special / Shelby etc)
  • Etc etc.....

:)

Good stuff. Now I can see what I'll be ordering. Gives me a little more confidence in putting some money down.

It will be a big disappointment if the Custom Pack RHD cars have the base (non-stitched) dash. I had a look at this in Frankfurt - the Euro spec GT had the custom pack (chrome trim, silver wheels, shaker etc.) and had a stitched panel dash. The EcoBoost convertible had the molded version which looked total pony (excuse the pun).

Sadly, I have a doc which does seem to show this as a difference between the UK RHD model and the EU spec. as the EU spec has a PCAP IP package available (whatever that is?) which comes with:
- Black leather seats, premium leather
- Real stitching on IP (instrument panel?)
-Matching door inserts

PS - ello Paul ;)

But how about those that want everything in the custom pack but want to retain the black wheels?

Halfords rattle can? ;)

Or find someone without the custom pack and see if they want the nickel wheels.

Just need to re-sync TPMS sensors.
