Hi guys, with the new tranny, ,can you drive with it in S all the time when selected with the shifter, will it cause damage in any way? Or should it be selected to S only when using the paddle shifters, and D for normal driving? Sorry for all the questions , I never had a stang with such tech on it before, this will be my sixth mustang. I'm also confused about the toggle switch mode thing, If I select S, for the steering feel, will that affect the tranny in any way, does it have to be in S or can you still use it in D. I'm really sorry about all the question, I'm totally new to the s550 mustangs, thanks for you patience and help-Tonyd1:thumbsup:

S is sport you can drive normal. it just does different shift points and other items. it should be pretty similar to the current S modes.

Assuming you haven't driven an S550 with the toggles and such.

S-Shifter: Only affects transmission shift points, once you start using paddles you are in full manual and will need to shift back to D to untoggle paddles. But it will just be a normal auto with more aggressive shift points if you don't use paddle shifters.

S/S+/Track Toggle: These can be engaged in either D or S mode of the shifter, the S mode only affects the paddles as above. These modes also mess with shift points as well as traction and stability control, making the car a little less electronically restricted and such.

Wet/Snow Toggle: This is for bad weather, make the throttle less aggressive and kicks up the electronics nannies up to 10, really good in snow.

Steering modes: Change the weight feel of the steering wheel.

None of the modes harm the car in any way.

Wow, I can't thank you enough, No, I never drove a s550 mustang net, the 2018 will be my first. Just to recap- NO damage is done to the tranny if driven in S mode all the time, I can choose to use the paddle shifters if I want to shift like a manual car, but don't have to, correct?. The car will have just firmer shifts in the S mode, Do I have to put it back to D if I'm not using the paddle shifters or can I leave it in S for a more aggressive tranny feel? The toggle switches, I like the set up used by the head engineer as advertised on you tube-S-for tranny, Normal steering feel and Track for exhaust-, -Your thoughts, what do you use? Thanks so very much, can't wait to get this 18 Ruby Red GT pp car:ford::ford:

You won't do any damage is you keep it in S, but in stop and go and from stoplights it can be jerky sometimes. You can use S without paddle shifters for more aggressive shift points, I usually like to use it on backroads and merging into highways, but for everyday driving I keep it in normal mode and normal steering, no exhaust mode for the 2015-17s. You're gonna love it!
