Which part of that is retro?
That silhouette is more towards a S197 Mustang or towards a New Edge Stang?

Right.

Even the taillights are identical to the 2010-12 Mustang. Im just saying that, that wont be the side profile of the new and modern s550.

Unfortunately, I don't have a larger size since I used TampaBear67's original edit as a baseline.

The tweaks I made were subtle, but I think the one that is throwing some off is the rear end. I pulled it in about 2-4 inches so I could continue the rear window slope ala fastback to reduce length/bloat. This is plausible given the tricks Ford could be playing with the camo, however I'll admit it is something I prefer to see so there is a bit of bias here.

To me, even with the reduced length, the profile still appears a bit chunky, but it could just be the poor shadowing due to the camo.

I never thought the silhouette on the S197 was on its own retro. It's just a Mustang silhouette of long hood/short deck. There's more than one way to design a modern stang than the New Edge..... change the headlights, remove the fogs from the grille and smooth out some of the hard edges. That would be enough to make it very modern looking even with the same S197 silhouette IMO.

Yeah right dude. S197s couldn't be more retro. In that case Ford’s Chief Creative Officer, J Mays, must be lying when he said in StangTv: "...expect something very cool for the Mustang’s next generation car. It won't be an evolution of the current car; it will get less retro styling and will bring the brand forward..."

Yeah, he must have been talking about SN95s when he said "less retro styling".

I dont know what you're talking about.... that image that eurospeed posted isn't even the s197 profile. It's more fastback and Aston-like and also sleeker and lacks the boxy notched look of a lot of retro cars.

Also, how can you judge whether this is retro or not just based on the outline of the silhouette? You realize that as someone else pointed out, the F-Type has a similar profile that is just slimmer and a few more curves? They can do a lot to modern detail and infuse some kinetic 2.0 design into this (like the Evos) that would make this silhouete super modern looking. You gotta expect the Mustang will be a muscled up version of a sports car, otherwise what makes it a pony car and distinguishes it from every other modern sports car out there?

Thanks Guys, I have to say I'm suryprised to see my work show up here. I just joined the site and have been hanging out at TMS which is where I posted that Originally. I've been playing with it and tweaking it for a few months. Here is my latest and a couple of other variations.

Thank You. Now that we've seen the quarter window from inside I think the bottom shape is closer to what we're going to get as far as the quarter window goes, which was what I've thought all along because it's closer in shape to the Fusion, Escape, & Focus quarter window shape. I cant wait to see the tail though.

New spy pics but more of the same.... doesn't look like we're gonna get a striptease from Ford.

These were spotted in Los Angeles by Hot Rod mag-

"Interestingly enough, while on a nice Sunday drive through La Cienega Boulevard by Melrose, this heavily cladded car passed by. It had manufacturer plates from Michigan. Behind it was an older model Mustang, also with manufacturer plates. A lightbulb then went on. MUSTANG!"

Now park one of those at the LA convention center and let's see this thing already!
